Well, I actually agree with you here. Consider:
The current theological position known as the "Three Stepper" way, or by its adherents as "
Acts 2:38 Salvation" is clearly a "limp wristed" and "effeminate" approach to preaching the Gospel.
"But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness."
1 Corinthians 1:23
Paul preached a message that he knew would stir up problems with most of his hearers. The "Jews" would be angered and the Greeks would call him "foolish!" Yet, Paul had the courage - (he had the " 'nads! ") - to continue to preach Christ even in the face of such opposition.
What was it that Paul preached about Jesus Christ that caused such controversy? It was the
CROSS!
1 Corinthians 1:17-18;
Galatians 5:11 and
Galatians 6:14
Preaching the CROSS takes courage, conviction and the power of the Holy Ghost!
Now, this "Three Stepper" message of compromise...
This message denies the power of the cross. In virtually all statements of faith, Articles of Faith and ministerial manuals of all "Three Stepper" dominated organizations such as the UPC and the WPF there is a glaring omission of the works of Jesus Christ and the effectiveness of the cross of Calvary in the sanctification and salvation of the lost.
They simply don't have the courage to stand up to one another and to preach the cross! They are too "limp wristed" to go before their General Conferences with a resolution demanding the inclusion of the cross in their article of faith!
They are spiritual eunuchs - preachers without fruit - whose movement is dying and bereft of younger ministers because they don't have the "goods" to reproduce!
They don't have the courage to preach the cross with all of it's power and blessings:
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
The "Three Steppers" don't have the courage to preach "Jesus Christ and him crucified!" They are forever eunuchs of the faith. There's is a "Christianity without the cross."
