This reminds me of another poster when he realizes he put his foot in his mouth acts like he was just doing it to liven things up. And a reminder to everyone, this so called conservative started the "argument", not the moderates or liberals

So sad....
I have been a member of AFF for so many years and any difference of opinion or thought it always comes to this...
Actually read where the UPC is mafia....among other nice adjectives given...
I'm always amazed at the almost mirrored reflection of the Political world and Religion...
Any Conservative Thought is always Hate Speech...while the Liberal thought is all love...
Interesting that the idea of tolerance is only Liberal Thoughts allowed...
Amazing...

The best you can do to alleviate your boredom is to be borish? Ok. Whatever....we believe you (obvious sarcasm)

Re: JCM Reunion / AMC Conference Check In Thread
I can't believe you guys let Rev Randy sucker you into some of the exchanges on this thread! However there were some very good responses to his rant.....er observations.
I found it interesting that it seemed very important to him that you could not tell if a lot of the people at the JCM reunion were Nazarene or Baptist. Apparently an outward dress code
is very important to him to be able to indentify someone as a Christian or not. Something you do not find Jesus doing at any time in his earthly ministry.
I challenge anyone to find Jesus preaching or teaching about a dress code being what identifies a Christian. Now he did talk about the fruit of the Spirit. Something not preached or taught about near as much as no makeup or jewelry.
The women were modest and ladylike. One interesting observation I made had to do with one of the women wearing a dress while singing on the platform. She had rather shapely legs and the thought crossed my mind that the "ungodly" slacks some of the women were wearing had caused me to not give a second glance to their legs where this woman who would have met the REV RANDY DRESS CODE did.
I think Rev Randy falls into that group of Pentecostals who has never been able to seperate friendship from approval. There is no doubt in my mind that TLC does not approve of my wifes dress code (I am fine of course) nor the church we attend. However he is smart enough to know that we don't equate his friendship with his approval. This is the area where the UPC and like can be cultic. Thank heavens not all though.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

He got a big kick out of that.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but what is AMC??
That pic of Mark would be great to start a funny captions thread!

AMC - isn't it Apostolic Minister's Conference? It's not sponsored by a particular organization, preachers from several different orgs, plus independents, participate. It's 'ultra-con' in philosophy. My parents attend every year.

Re: JCM Reunion / AMC Conference Check In Thread
It sounds and looks like ya'll had a great reunion!!!! I am slightly jealous that I chose IBC over JCM...at IBC the alumni banquets are always held in conjunction with other UPC events...bummer!!! LOL
I didn't know that Darrell Johns was President of Gateway!!! I am outta the loop! I can't believe it! LOL
Loved the pictures...Dave and Bonita used to come to my dad's church alot to sing...I remember him using a DAT machine and at the time we thought he was WAY too high tech for our small country church! LOL
