Never heard of her until just now. No disrespect intended toward her artistic talent and commercial success, it's just that these folks don't really impact my life one way or the other.
My son informed me this morning that today was "Gay Rights Awareness Day" at school. The "gay wads" (his words) were going around with tape over their mouths to symbolize something.
It took a bit of questioning before I was assured that this was definately NOT a school sponsored event; otherwise I'd be on the phone right now.
I've come to the realization that people will live their lives in ways that they are persuaded make the most sense. Often times, these same ways won't make any sense to me. As long as they can behave like ladies and gentlemen and refrain from aggresively recruiting acolytes to their cause, then I say, "Whatever!"
For those close to me or those who are so completely bored that that they might even listen to me I would challenge them on their decisions to "be gay." And, this is a decision. I choose how I express myself with my "partner" (my wife of almost 30 years). I chose how I behaved before I was married. I'm no "Superman;" yet I managed to find my way through an overly sexed society with my integrity intact.
Jennifer and others can find their way as well. I am saddened by her choices, but her choices don't really affect me or mine in any way. So, I wish her well and hope that she can find some happiness in this often painful world.
