Interesting. It seems other people like Apocyphra and Miss B agree with me though. I know they didn't say that, but they sure are coming up with reasons for why its okay for the pastor to worship in a quite reserved type way when everyone else worships the other ways. So I assume they know a few pastors like the ones I'm speaking of.

I'm just saying when's the last time you heard that quite reserved type worship preached on as a valid just as biblical and good of a way to worship as the running/shouting/dancing/whatever else. I don't think I ever heard that message once

My pastor does preach that. He's not a fan of hyped-up worship, although he does believe in expressive worship... if that's what you feel. But he gives as much validity to more reserved worshipers.

So we have 1 church that preaches that message. Is that at all typical for a pentecostal church in your opinion? What about anyone elses opinion?

No, I don't believe it's typical. In my experience, most Pentecostal churches do believe that the more hoop and holler, the more power of God.
We have visiting preachers come to our church and stress the hooping and hollering, because they apparently don't think we're doing enough of it.
My pastor has taken some flack because of his de-stressing the 'shouting' aspect of church.
We do still have "shouting" services, but we don't feel like it's been a dry service if we don't. And he does teach that everything should be done decently and in order, and as MBlume mentioned on another thread - "the spirit of the prophet is subject to the prophet". There's a time for exuberant worship, and there's a time to be still.
No one in our church is pressured to "shout". But, yes, I have found that to be unusual.

Sounds like you have a great church by the way!
Just curious, of the churches you know that emphasize the shouting and stuff would you say their pastors usually particpate in that kind of worship or are they more reserved?

My personal experience has been that the pastors participate. Maybe not quite as much, though.
Thinking of one of my former pastors who loved, loved, loved the shouting - yes, he participated. He'd get out in the aisles, put his arms around the men, and shout right with them.

Yea, I'm sure there are examples of others that do get into those aspects of worship.
Are you saying that your personal experience is that pastors do those forms of worship almost as much as the laypeople do but just not quite as much as them
?

Some pastors spend a lot of time, during times of worship, going around praying for people. So that would cut into their shouting time.
But I've never personally come across a pastor who stressed shouting, that made me think - "So why don't you?" They may be out there, but I can only speak from my own limited experience.

Yes, I know of one church where the people pretty much bounce off the walls, but the pastor is very reserved. He's not quiet, but I've never seen him dance or run. Another old family friend is the opposite--he bounces off the walls and his congregation pretty much just looks on. LOL!!!!!
I'm saying I've seen both, but I'm not drawing any negative conclusions from what I've seen. Pastors are people, too, and they aren't all going to act the same.

Me, either. The ones I've seen that make a big deal out of exuberant worship are also participants.
