Only if you agree with their specific understanding of a particular scripture. I found that posts by some specific people who actually contributed intelligent, berean points of view were often shouted down, edited by admin or deleted altogether, while another character over there (I think his screen name was Ryder, or something like that), who was a blatant judaizer, were allowed to devolve to the point where the conclusion was that we should reinstate the dietary laws of the Mosaic code and men should not trim the corners of their beards.
When Doug J ran the forum, there was a great deal more openness to differing views. Since Jim L took over though, there was a marked change in administration... a much more heavy-handed approach to topics that challenged the status quo. I had never before seen so many locked and deleted threads ANYWHERE. It really is not a discussion forum. It's an affirmation forum - no real discussion. Very oppressive, IMO.
I should qualify, though, that I have not even lurked there in a few years, so things may have changed. I would be surprised, though.
I do agree that that is when the most changes took place. Having said that, it was the first forum that I ever posted on and did quite frequently for well over a year before the abrupt policy changes mentioned. In fact I was sorta/kinda to THAT forum which Timmy is to this one. Most of the men were very patient with me and others turned out to be quite different once I got to know them then they first appeared to me initially. Bro Jim L really grated me the wrong way until I understood his personality better and found discovered he WAS a decent person after all. (But yes, he really ran the forum with a heavy hand when granted the reigns to do so.)
It had it's day. Ah, back then the UC's were bashing me for being to liberal and the libs for being an ironfisted UC. I just threw up my hands and joined AFF....
Admining that forum taught me not only can you not make everyone happy.... you can't make anyone happy... so why try?
I understand. I'm a moderator at UPC Mens Forum and at a non-denom site. It can be tricky at times.

In fact I think that the insinuation of "hateful" Pentecostals is coming mostly from the fertile imaginations of bitter, backslidden ex Apostolics who are constantly trying to find a way to justify their actions. ~ strait shooter
Someone told me that I couldn't really hide because people could see my IP address. Could someone tell me how that is done? That is scary!
Your IP address doesn't tell who you are, but like here if someone has two usernames they will both be tied to the one IP address. So, you can't "hide" with a second username.
Or, if someone is registered here with a username and on another forum signed up with their real name - if an admin from each place was suspect they could compare IP addresses to see if it was the same person.
The IP address does tell what area you are in.

It shouldn't be scary. Every packet of information that your computer sends across the Internet has a header. You can think of this header as having the same type of information that you see at the top of most email messages. It has a "To" address and a "From" address (along with other stuff).
There are tools that come with the vBulletin software that the admins here use. One of the tools reads the "From" field of every post and shows the admin the IP address it's coming from.
You could go down to Starbucks and post from there if you want to throw them off a little bit.
