I always wondered how the "spys" at my old church could print out people's posts for church gatherings and say this is so and so's post, even though it says anonymous. Once they mentioned it was because it has the same IP addy or something like that.
I just hate the idea that they may already be reading my stuff, and humiliating my family by trying to convince people it is proof I am an enemy of God and going to hell. I always felt sorry for family members having to go through services where their brothers, husbands etc. were being used as examples to keep people in bondage.

To get the IP info you would need to either have admin privileges or the forum in question would have to have someone provide it to you somehow. It could be that they have a "mole" who supplies the info. I seriously doubt such a "mole" exists here, however.
Some forums automatically show the IP of each poster for all the world to see - this is rarer today. I haven't seen an "OP" forum ever do that, though.
Usually, just some sort of personal reference will cause people to at least "think" they know who a poster is. There are a lot of games played by bluffing. I always call every bluff in such circumstances. I have nothing to "hide" and I think most people are afraid of my family that is still "hard line."
