Sounded bitter to me. I think so. What business is it to him that LS gets a degree overseas at a shady institution? Can't believe he was involved in such slander.

Please. We repeat ourselves plenty on here without being big-headed enough to expect others to go expending the time to read everything we've written. What a bunch of crock from Char.

Hey, Doofus, you asked "Where were you on the LS thread?"
Now you know.

Seriously. I trudged through a 100-page thread. You can go back 2 pages and look for a list of questions I bumped twice on this small thread.

Doofus? Really? Mighty loud bark you have there Mr. Set-Everyone-Straight.
That really only took a quick reply: "I was quite critical of LS. To see more here's the link from the LS thread"
My point is, you weren't there defending LS. That was my unspoken assumption as well.
So to Baron you asked what business of his is it where a man got his education from. But to LS, you were quite upset and questioned his motive. Inconsistent?

If I was a theologian, what has more credibility: Mickey Mouse University or Yale Divinity School? Why do you think so? Just brand?
As in the case of LS (and other names that came up in that thread), there is a similarity in the educational ranks that we hope to see broken. Why are so many ministers rushing to get degrees added to their name, but few doing it, though capable, through institutions of academic rigor? Why is this a problem? What does it say?

I believe it only matters to men who wish to teach or are in circles of influence in which such a degree is considered necessary. I do not believe an educator should be held to a higher standard. The same standard of integrity should permeate every marketplace.
Honestly, Mickey Mouse? No one would take that seriously. However, South Africa appears to be legit, even if it doesn't meet your approval.
I have a feeling the rush for degrees is a product of the heightened expectations of parishioners. The rules changed on my generation in the middle of the game. College was once considered a nice addition to a resume, now it's a requirement. Some men are well up in years, yet lack the necessary initials, so they take shortcuts. Unethical men will cheat to meet those expectations.
