ILG,
I meant to come back and respond to this as the topic of the thread is about movies and how they possibly effect us or stimulate us.
I believe that Anne of Green Gables, much like Miss Potter, don't make us feel bad about the kissing scenes because the movies are not written with a sexual or even a sensual undertone. They present a wholesome and natural attachment.
A movie like Zorro with Catherine Zeta Jones and Antonio Banderas was, intentionally, written with a sexual undertone. This is the type of movie that we try to avoid watching or owning.

The body of Christ is a community of believers, forgiven and though flawed, working together to truly follow Jesus. In the true Body there is not a hierarchy, we are in relationship with "one another".
And maybe this thread should be highjacked!! LOL

Yes, I agree with what you are saying (although I don't know what is in Zorro). I was trying to make a point that there is a difference. Of course, sexual attachment is also wholesome and natural, but I believe it should also be private.

I always get a kick out of seeing people say things like "this is one of the dubmest threads!" but then I have been watching the amount of people that have been following it.

Re: Sex Scenes
Men and women are both affected visually, but differently. And for men, much more dramatically. What men do with visual images is often different than women too. The thought-life of a man is often purely physical, while a woman's will be situational (dreaming of a setting, a conversation, etc).
All of this is said without qualifications, because of course someone breaks this mold. But we'd get nowhere making those qualifications all day.
PO, do you think the kissing in Anna Green Gables or watching Michael Landon in Little House on the Prairie ever had that "steamy effect?" It's easy to compare it to things today and it seem rather silly... but I wonder 30-50 years ago....
