You may have. But we obviously still aren't in any agreement or consensus.
Issues? I'd say he had issues if it didn't get to him.
"The issue" would be him watching a 2-minute nude scene. Is that how we "flee fornication" and it's working in our heart?
The human male body has a physiological response to erotic images, no matter how Rico Suave we think we are. It's like playing Russian Roulette. I don't know if "Do something" is the litmus, but when does it become lust? What is it producing in the heart? If it doesn't "get to you," why is that? Not raunchy enough compared to other appetites in his life?

It's okay. We all have issues. Throwing off denial is the first step toward help TIC
Is a two-minute sex scene mild to you? Do you see far worse?
Are you married? Single? Do you have a porn addiction? Are you a man or woman? Are you on the PUP list? (sports folks will get that one) Are you young or old?
In the end, I'm not God's agent to convince you of anything. I remain convinced by science, life experience (both my own and interaction with others) that this is true.

I wouldnt say any sex scene is mild! I have seen much worse on TV and in person!! I am married, no porn addiction, I am a man, I am 38 in great shape! I choose not to watch sex scenes it ruins a good movie !! The research easily shows the stimulation of the mind etc... what it does not show is the depth of the stimulaion! How much does that man think about said image, and to what extent! You are only assuming that everyman takes the woman in that image to bed in thier mind! Or that it turns them on soooooo bad they will (sin)!!!!

Okay
Why does it ruin the movie though?

All of this is said without qualifications, because of course someone breaks this mold. But we'd get nowhere making those qualifications all day.

I agree with what you said in bold.

PO, do you think the kissing in Anna Green Gables or watching Michael Landon in Little House on the Prairie ever had that "steamy effect?" It's easy to compare it to things today and it seem rather silly... but I wonder 30-50 years ago....
|
That is a great point! Remember my post about my friend's father who wouldn't watch Gone With the Wind because he said it was a sensual movie in his day? So, 30 or so years ago, that was a "steamy" movie. Are we overly desensitized?
The kiss in Anne of Green Gables wasn't steamy to me because I didn't find the actor or actress attractive nor did they ever act sensual. The camera didn't linger for any length of time, at the end of the movie, when they kissed. It was a simple, wholesome and endearing show. Nothing sexual about it.
Rhett Butler and Scarlett were both sexual people to me, and so some of the scenes were "steamy", albeit, not like the ones we have today. Perhaps it is just an individual perception and that is why I very rarely recommend a movie.

Right, it should be private. I think each individual may view a movie as more sexual or sensual according to their personal opinion. That is why I rarely recommend movies. I have had some recommended to us as decent, i.e., Zorro. It was a bit sensual, but it wasn't sexual. I define sexual as having elements of visible nudity. Well, the sword fight in the stable left her partially nude, although she remained covered. LOL! I hate when they add these things in, because the story line was great and didn't need the stable scene. It's always disappointing.
