I was thinking about this yesterday.... what has become the most important - witnessing to the lost, or preserving a lifestyle? When preserving a lifestyle becomes more important to us than spreading the gospel of Jesus, we need to stop and do an evaluation. If the world starts being turned off by us because we are simply 'weird' in their eyes, and right off the bat they aren't interested in listening to what we have to say... we are being a great hindrance to the gospel, and our mission.
Next time you're at a park, or the mall, or an airport, look around. Many people who need Jesus. But if you tell the women that they must stop cutting their hair, wearing makeup, and must wear only skirts so that they can know Jesus, and be saved.... how many of them do you think will be interested? In our world today, that's just wacko and extremist. Tell them that they must love people, be faithful to their companion, help the poor, not steal or kill (you know, the things the BIBLE defines as SIN/good works), then you may have an audience.
It's not 1920 anymore. It's also not 1855, 1233, or 2125. It's 2010, and we have to spread Jesus' gospel in our current time. The men no longer wear cute knee-britches with ruffly shirts and white wigs, nor do they wear robes (unless they're judges), they don't wear leather moccasins. Pentecostal men dress in current fashions, it's simply not just or biblical to insist that the women can't. And women who need Jesus can see that. If we're going to witness to people, we have to meet them where they are, not insist that they adhere to our preferred dress code.
(this post is not directed at the thread, really, just a response that Mr. Steinway's post triggered)

Re: News Bulletin from the General Superintendent-
Could it be that many who once had the (anointing) Oil in their vessels have become SO COMSUMED with their vessels, they no longer realize that it is NOT their vessel that is important to the Kingdom, BUT the OIL inside that causes the LIGHT of the glorious GOSPEL of Christ to shine out to a lost and dying world. They try to shine, but could it be there is no light inside because the OIL has not been replenished and the light has gone out. (What happened to ELI, right in the temple.) No OIL (Anointing), No light! Could it be that what little oil remains, the light cannot shine out because the vessels have been "covered" up on the outside and hides the glimmer that might remains inside! Could it be that the TRUE covering has been removed and the oil inside has become contaminated!! Could it be that like Eli, the light has gone out and we don't even know it! He had become so complacent and sluggish, he didn't even know the light had gone out. So sad!
2Cor. 4:7 "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
Isaiah 10:27 "
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.
IJohn 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
You can take a beautiful stained glass window in a building, and it does not show its true beauty unless there is a LIGHT shining from within!
Just some sincere thoughts!
