Sounds like Mr. Smith is looking for equal parameters for all parties involved. Unfortunately, guidelines don't consider the natural flex for conversations, and guidelines are just that, guidelines. They aren't laws.
I can see Mr. Smith's point though, despite his eccentric style on the forum (which has helped momentarily bring back a semblance of life on this forum).
Like the blog world, discussing ideas should always be welcomed. And when people become over-sized representation of those ideas, it's sometimes impossible to avoid them as part of the discussion. And when we are using something people have said as a discussion point, it's impossible to not involve them personally. I guess the difference is in how gracious we can be with each other. For some posters, we "flex to their style" But in the end, that may just mean we "sink to their level." Hmm.. food for thought for myself today.
