Depends on how you define preaching. For example, in Acts we see that Paul “preached” until midnight:
Acts 20:7
{20:7} And upon the first [day] of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
The word used for “preached” here is “dialegomai”, meaning to “discuss” or have dialogue.
1256 // dialegomai // dialegomai // dee-al-eg'-om-ahee //
middle voice from 1223 and 3004 ; TDNT - 2:93,155; v
AV - dispute 6, reason with 2, reason 2, preach unto 1,
preach 1, speak 1; 13
1) to think different things with one's self, mingle thought with thought
1a) to ponder, revolve in mind
2) to converse, discourse with one, argue, discuss
Paul’s “preaching” was a discussion format, Paul didn’t offer a ranting monologue with the traditional “preacher’s cough” in a microphone to a room of captive non-participative listeners. We see this kind of preaching throughout the book of Acts. Even on the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached
Acts 2:38 as a result of his dialogue with the crowd. Phillip had a dialogue with the Ethiopian Eunuch. New Testament preaching is a dialogue. The traditional “sermon” is based on the Sophist philosophy of philosophical rhetoric in which the crowed passively listens, contemplates, and receives the message. The philosopher offers a base text or idea and supplies ample analogies to persuade the listener to his or her premise. It’s pagan in origin.

They discuss how horrible it is to go to a building that has the word CHURCH on it! LOL
Guys like this always end up ship wrecked and off on some crazy tangent.

I agree, no house church Christian should denigrate any body of believers regardless as to where they choose to worship. Sure, I believe the pros and cons should be openly discussed, but denigration is absolutely unnecessary.

THANK GOD FOR THE CHURCH! I am glad I am in GOD'S CHURCH! I am not ashamed of THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD! I am not going to let anybody disrespect the HOUSE OF GOD without saying something! You might need to look up in the HOLY BIBLE and find these descriptions in the HOLY BIBLE. The Church of God, The House of God and other references to the Church. Just because somebody got hurt and upset with a preacher for preaching against their sin of rebellion - they want to go off on a tangent and have a little meeting of the rebellious in their house and call it a CHURCH. Give me a break- that HOUSE is NOT A CHURCH!
I call you to repent of your rebellion against the Church of the Living God and go back to that Pastor and ask him to forgive you of your sin and be restored to the flock of God.
The House of God is the Gate of Heaven!
Genesis 28:17 NIV "He was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven."

The church is any assembly of believers, be it in a traditional church building or just two believers meeting for coffee, to discuss Scripture, and fellowship. I too thank God for the church. It’s important to remember that the places and temple of the OT are mere shadows of NT realities. We are the temple of the living God, church building or not.
