Re: Isaiah 3 and jewelry...
Onefaith2, thanks for being open enough to consider why we believe what we believe, rather than use juvenile expletives in a spirit of closed mindedness.
What setting is Paul talking about? General life? Or church?
He said men should be lifting up holy hands. What is that referring to? Men are not intended to raise their hands in worship everywhere they go, whether at work or in a store or talking to a neighbour in their front yards. This is referring to IN CHURCH. Where do we raise our hands? In Church gatherings. This is speaking of church meetings. Similarly the women are likewise directed as to how to appear in Church gatherings.
You can appreciate the intention by considering how many women are tempted to come to church to show off their luxurious clothing and to attempt to "better" themselves in comparison to the next sister in church. Ever see those flamboyant hats with the huge feathers and gaudy looking necklaces that are simply intended to out-dazzle the other sisters. It is a veritable fashion show in many such churches. THAT is Paul's point, not what to wear in everyday life. And he is not saying it is fine to be flamboyant in everyday life, either.
But the context is IN CHURCH. You focused on the "without wrath or doubting", but Paul's qualifier is the "lifting up holy hands" which is done in church settings.
