Yes, I agree you have a definite point there. One way to do this is to find a good quality product and then buy it used on Craigslist.

That's an idea. I haven't done much "cyber monday" shopping either. How do you find those deals? Is there a forum you use?

Re: How to Save Money
I see KMart has a heating blanket at 60% off Thanksgiving day. I might go and pick that up.

Well, yes. It isn't about spending more money just for the sake of spending -you always want the best deal on a particular product, but it's about buying what you need/want in the first place rather than getting something less than having to repurchase what you really wanted.
Case in point: I don't know how many times I bought something for, lets say 150, for my computer then a few months later paid another 200 for the same component I should have gotten in the first place. Now I am effectively out 150.

I learned this lesson from my father who always bought the cheapest tools. I will never, ever forget the time when he had to jump a dead car battery. When he pulled out his el cheapo jumper cables, one of the clamps fell off. I will never forget that as long as I live.

Yes, quality purchases are always better than cheap stuff that breaks tomorrow. But, getting that quality on sale or used is even better. When you can get both, quality and a good price, that is the best deal of all. Sometimes, you simply have to cough up full price, but that should be the exception. Buying cheap is the way to have to buy and re buy which isn't cost effective, as you were saying.
