I don't have a problem with the Apostolic part. It's the "Friends" part that seems out of place.
Oh, c'mon. I regularly shred posts here, get shredded sometimes; I certainly don't take it personal. I may not agree with a response, but I'm pretty sure they are earnest.
When I need "friends" like you imply, I can go to the bar and buy the house a round
(And ps, I'm sure you're getting guff for this, but the earth is your home,
it's them that have to flee--that rapturist preacher lied to you)
I can go to other forums such as, cars, biking, acoustic guitar, guns, health, etc. and find the majority of the participants friendly and helpful. Come to AFF and find hostility and critics in the majority of threads. Sad.
I'm on other forums as well, mainly aquarium ones, and they are all usually pretty cordial.
The BIG difference is that none of these forums have discussions about lifestyles and condemning others who don't fit a particular one. Now granted we have had some pretty spirited talks about the pro's and con's of having a trickle filter on a reef tank (I am against it for all those who may be wondering) but no one has EVER used the word "backslidder!" when talking about someone who used to use one but no longer does.

Yeah, but nobody thinks one's beliefs on trickle filters have eternal consequences for one's soul!

Love the "backslid out of church" quote (not really). First, the word is "backslidden" not "backslid". Second, many of us who have left the traditional OP denominations have found a lot of grace, love, fruit of the Spirit, gifts of the Spirit and a world of people who aren't self righteous elitists who think that they are the only ones going to heaven. What I have discovered outside of the Apostolic movements I grew up around reflects more of what the Apostles were and did than what I experienced and observed and practiced in the movement. There are many wonderful Christians within the Ap movement. There are many outside of it too.
And the guy in your avatar? Probably wouldn't be very well received in most Ap churches...
Love the UPC i have short hair..no one ever bugs me about it..respect the pastor.. doesnt bug me about it..
