The generation in this passage is speaking of a RACE not a time period. Jesus is saying the Jews will not be annihilated off the earth. Guess what they haven't been.

36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

according to these 2 verses, 1 of the 2(not literal #'s always being 1 of 2 obviously) gets left. Under the ad70 siege, the christians had "fled into the mountains" when they heard of the invasion. So my question is, how did they get left in the field, or grinding at the mill, if they werent there, but rather they had already fled into the mountains?

Come on Brother Epley. Put your rapture doctrine on the table and try to line it up with that passage. Show us where angels will help with the lift off of physical bodies ie the saints in your rapture doctrine.
i'm waiting on prax to get the debate set up for me and afp1996. I think it will become quite evident (as though its not already) that Christ has yet to return like the scripture teaches. I admonish Esther and others not to be decieved by full preterists because of their much speaking(posting).

see this is the problem....you actually think words mean what they mean...don't worry I use to think this way also until some very good prophetic teachers helped me to misunderstand the words. everyone knows in prophecy....or prophetic scriptures....the words don't mean the same things...you have to get the secret decoder-ring that comes with every millioneth copy of the KJV of the Bible. only a few people have these and so thats why we need them to explain all these words to us. apparently God allowed His divine word to be translated this way so we common folk wouldn't understand it...and we would need these people to help us misunderstand it.
since coming to this misunderstanding...prophecy makes much more sense.

SO shall the coming of the Son of Man be. How would His coming be??
Like a thief, without warning. Not knowing the day or hour, be watchful and
ready at all times. If we are ready, it doesn't matter when He comes for us.
This past Fri. night two longtime friends of ours were sitting together and
suddenly, without warming, one was taken, the other left. Today one is
left grieving their companion of 50 yrs. The other is gone.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. He may
come for you or me today. WE know not the day nor the hour. So also shall
the coming of the Son of man be.
He came for our friend like a thief in the night. No one was looking for Him
to come Fri. night. Just some thoughts.
As I was posting this, two elder ladies were crossing the state highway on
the main street of our city. Someone coming down the main highway collided
with them in the middle of the state highway. ONE was taken, the other left!
Suddenly, without warning, they did not know the day or the hour that HE
would come for one of them. That's why we are admonished to watch and to
always be ready, since we do not know when HE will come for us.
And as they were told in Matt. 24:42:
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
