According to Steadfast and some others it has happened... and then according to some it was said about them it happened and it didn't...

Who needs proof? Theyv'e been runnin this one on us for years and I know for a fact that it never happened....but they sure tell it like it did...without proof...

If you are lying...you don't need proof...

T1, if it matters, I believe it did not happen where you are at. You made your point.

Steadfast posted it in fact did happen somewhere else.

And those who tell it on me claim they know for sure it happened too...

Honestly, I'm not saying steadfast is lying...I suppose some dingbat out there could do these things...but in every instance I have heard this rumor...and right now it stands at at least 6...it did not happen...although those that say it did claim to have first hand reliable information....

This is like the great urban legend that will not go away and i don't know why these people care anyway...

Did he actually witness such a absurdity or did he hear it from "a reliable source." This all sounds just too ridiculous.

Very careful groundwork over an extended period of time must be laid down through Biblical teaching to move peoples foundation from being wrapped around legalism to a better understanding of the Gospel.

Without that teaching and preaching over time any sudden outward changes cause a psychological mess in peoples minds as their conditioning over many years causes them great guilt that some then confuse with conviction.
AMEN!!!!! THAT IS TRUE, You my friend could be a LAWYER!! That is a great article. You need to post that as a thread.

Sad day... for my opinion CLICK HERE.
Bro Steadfast...

Settle this one thing. Did you actually talk to the PASTOR who did this or from one of his ex-saints or ex-colleagues to get this info?

Why do I ask? Some of the very people that have spoken this rumor about us either went to our church and left for standards OR they are preachers I once called friend....so it seems reliable because we once had relationship...some very close....but it is not reliable because not one of them have ever contacted me to ask if it is true....

They go off of hearsay...

So, did you personally speak to the pastor in question and ask HIM DIRECTLY if he did this or not?

If I had to guess I think this urban myth has probably been attributed to varoius exUPC preachers this way;

1. Some lame brain actually does at least a portion of what the urban myth details - In this case cutting the wife's hair on the platform.

2. When some other UPC pastor "goes charismatic" some preacher probably says in a joking or ominous way "he probably cut his wifes hair on the platform"

3. Someone who heard the preacher say that this particular preacher PROBABLY cut his wifes hair on the platform they repeat it but leave out the PROBABLY.

4. Since all of the preachers passing on this story that gets embellished a little each telling are all reputable men before you know it this has become a FACT even though it never happened.

Can I tell you the number of time in the 1980's when I was a member of Kenneth Phillips World Of Pentecost church in Austin that I heard from UPC folks when visiting out of state how sorry they were to hear that my church had split and "gone down to nothing"? When in fact the church was growing and bigger than ever! I finally figured out that probably some UPC folks came through town and did not realize our main Sunday service was not on Sunday night so when they came to some sort of optional Sunday night class with just a few hundred people they assumed the church had split and gone down to nothing.

That is certainly how these things go for sure....

We have discovered the most crazy stuff out there on us...and where it comes from...who knows...but they have "reliable sources"...LOL...just not us! We are not reliable enough...only the gossips know.....
