Re: Prayer for the Little Things

Little things. Let me tell you about a "little thing" God has done for me.

This morning, I, my step son and step daughter, and the 3 grand children, are attending church together. For the first time. It was a request of my wife that we go to church together and, this morning one of her last requests is being fulfilled. And, its due, largely in part, to many of the members of this forum. I told them of your expressions of love and generousity last night and they... THEY said...they wanted us to go to church together. And we are. I am blessed. God has done a great big "little thing" for us and I owe Him... and many of you...a great big thank you for making it possible.

Thank you Bro. Praise. Good service. It was a Baptist Church. The pastor conducted my wife's funeral. Outstanding man. I really enjoyed the service! We all did. Gonna shop around and find a good moderate Pentecostal Church. Need an Apostolic church... but... none close enough.

Re: Prayer for the Little Things

Bro. OneAccord,

If we who have received the Spirit of God, do not reach out and touch those

who have not yet received, then how will they become connected to the True

Source of ALL Power! Jesus said all Power in heaven and in earth was given to

Him. He was the mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus.

John, the Baptist was the forerunner, or messenger of Jesus Christ, who

came out of the wilderness, a prepared vessel of God, preaching a message

of repentance.

Could it be that the good Baptists are like those two disciples of John, who

were still following him instead of following on to know the Lord. John told

those that he was not the Christ but that there was one coming after whose

shoes he was not worthy to stoop and unloose. He would baptize them with

the Holy Ghost and fire.

How many are waiting for someone to connect them to the One who will

baptize them with the Holy Ghost and with fire. If they can only realize they

have stopped short of the One who was coming afterward.

John said he had to decrease and the One coming after must INCREASE.

John even pointed Jesus out as the "Lamb of God " which taketh away the

sins of the world. We reach out and through Christ in us, the hope of glory,

we must show them JESUS and make sure they see Him instead of us. We

must allow them to see Him IN us.

Fifty years ago this Nov. my parents started a humble mission church in our small town.

Today there is a growing church where three generations of his family are represented.

We have some dear Baptist neighbors for over 35 yrs. who are still members of the large

Baptist congregation in our city. Some of our children attended school with their son

and daughter. Now those adult children have children and ours have children also.

Through the years this neighbor lady would call often for prayer and would visit from

time to time but never let me forget that she was "just visiting". Life has caused her

to realize she and her family needed God more than ever. The father has been a barber

in our city for over 40 yrs. He graduated from high school with one of my brothers who

attends the church our father founded in 1958.

Dec. 2007, the father visited for the first time for our Christmas program. I believe he

has missed one Sunday since to go deer hunting the week after his first visit. Not only

he came, but his wife, adult son and daughter, and his four grandchildren. He goes to

his Baptist Sunday School class and leaves to come for our worship service. Three gene-

rations of his family meet for our worship service. He recently told the pastor here

that he was liking what he was seeing and hearing and it might just be what he had been

looking for. They were there again yesterday, three generations of well known Baptists

who could possibly be the connectors from that Baptist S.S. class or church to where

they can follow on to know the Lord in a greater measure. The Power of the Holy God!!

Man must NEVER allow those that we could influence to Christ to focus on us, but to

point them to HIM. Man should point them to Christ and His Word and trust Him to draw

them to Himself. We may be the messenger God sends to tell them the old, old story,

of JESUS and HIS LOVE!

Blessings,

Falla39

When someone becomes sick, we go to prayer. When someone gets laid off, we go to prayer. When someone is involved in an accident, we go to prayer. And certainly in these situations, that is exactly what we should do.

The Lord taught me a lesson last weekend. About 3:30AM on Sunday morning, I was driving alone, rushing down to Louisiana in anticipation of my grandfather's passing. I was just north of Memphis and the weather included heavy rain and dense fog. Now this wasn't a major crisis in my life. I could just slow down and take it carefully. This was not something that was going to be life altering if I arrived later than I would have liked. I audibly said this little prayer. "God, I want to arrive safely and I would like to arrive there as soon as I can. If you could help me with this weather, I would appreciate it. In Jesus Name, Amen."

In 1-2 minutes the rain stopped and the fog cleared. There was nothing profound about my prayer. There was nothing life changing about what I was asking for. But in my mind and spirit, it was a confirmation of His care and His love for me. In my mind, it was a miracle.

Sometimes we need to step back and observe God's hand in the little things. We take for granted of His daily work in our lives. As I type this, my heart aches that I have not always given Him the credit He deserves. I always want to praise Him for his marvelous acts;things that seem to big to handle, but now I give Him praise for all that He does and realize the significance of little things He does for me.
I heard a pastor say once that God loves to give us little things... and that he would even ask God to bless him with a good parking space when he went shopping.

There was one time that I had sprained an ankle, and still had to go grocery shopping. As I was turning at the light by Walmart, I asked God to bless me with a parking space close to the door because I wasn't feeling up to walking half a mile across the parking lot that day. Normally I don't mind walking, and will park pretty far out in the lot just to have the exercise... That day, I drove down the lane in front of the store... and there wasn't just one empty parking spot--- but I had my choice of the first parking place on the 4 rows of spaces closest to the grocery entrance. Now every time when we get to the light by Walmart, my son will ask me if I'm going to pray for a parking space.

Just don't settle for the bargain basement or the clearance rack.
