It does seem like sometimes, even when we do have an active, personal relationship with God, that we tend to place emphasis on prayer for the big circumstances that occur in our lives. When someone becomes sick, we go to prayer. When someone gets laid off, we go to prayer. When someone is involved in an accident, we go to prayer. And certainly in these situations, that is exactly what we should do.
The Lord taught me a lesson last weekend. About 3:30AM on Sunday morning, I was driving alone, rushing down to Louisiana in anticipation of my grandfather's passing. I was just north of Memphis and the weather included heavy rain and dense fog. Now this wasn't a major crisis in my life. I could just slow down and take it carefully. This was not something that was going to be life altering if I arrived later than I would have liked. I audibly said this little prayer. "God, I want to arrive safely and I would like to arrive there as soon as I can. If you could help me with this weather, I would appreciate it. In Jesus Name, Amen."
In 1-2 minutes the rain stopped and the fog cleared. There was nothing profound about my prayer. There was nothing life changing about what I was asking for. But in my mind and spirit, it was a confirmation of His care and His love for me. In my mind, it was a miracle.
Sometimes we need to step back and observe God's hand in the little things. We take for granted of His daily work in our lives. As I type this, my heart aches that I have not always given Him the credit He deserves. I always want to praise Him for his marvelous acts;things that seem to big to handle, but now I give Him praise for all that He does and realize the significance of little things He does for me.

It's been a few days since I've read a post from you... good to see you again and thank you for sharing! I'm sorry about your grandfather...
Those little things He does.. I call them faith builders. I found a skirt tonight I had promised to give to someone because it didn't fit me... I searched high and low for that foolish thing...
I wouldn't have cared mysef, but I had promised it to someone and didn't want to not deliver... Such a little insignificant thing, hardly worth praying over.
As I was praying a simple prayer, "Lord please let me find that skirt, I promised to give it to Sis. __________ I remembered where I put it. I didn't even have the chance to finish the little prayer.
Faith builders.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
TP if we pray for the small things when the big things happen we have a base for our faith.
As one who forgets to put gas in the car (blonde moments) I have prayed a few times not to run out before I get to town.
God is faithful even in the little things.
So sorry for your loss.
Glad to see you back.

Unfortunately, I found myself out of town 2 weeks ago and again this week for the funeral.
Thanks for sharing you "little" story. It is an example of exactly what I am talking about. >>>>>>> <<<<<<<<<<

ROFL!! I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one who has had that experience. I used to run out of gas regularly and had to call for help. So regularly in fact, that I had a pastor's wife tell me one day, "Cars do not run on air or on prayer. You have to put gas in them!" LOL
One day I had let my gas tank get down to the empty mark again. I was at the church for service, when a lady called and asked the pastor to send me out to pick her up for service. What could I say? Of course, I went. A friend went with me and on the way we started to pray for God to get us there and back on the fumes we had left. After just a few minutes, we literally watched the needle on the gas guage go up, up, up, until I had a half a tank of gas!! It was enough to make it the rest of the week! Now if that's not God, I don't know what it could be!
I remember when I was a little girl we always picked up and elderly lady to take to and from church. One night on the way back we did run out of gas. We prayed and not only did we have enough gas to take her home and go home ourselves, my Dad had enough gas the next morning to get to a gas station on his way to work.
