Amen! Must be the reason Bro John Atkinson hasn't gotten that million bucks or Dodge Viper yet, wouldn't you agree? Seems like we too often allow our "own lusts" become the greater element of our asking.

Casn't be amiss... hey I would GLADLY give someone a ride to church in my dodge viper.

On a serious note you are correct. When we ask for "stuff" just because we want more "stuff", that is asking amiss and God isn't under any obligation to hand it over.

Sometimes we fall into the trap of misunderstanding what true riches are. When we understand those and ask... we receive. Everytime I believe.

I vote, "No."

There may be a scripture that would lead one to say that God gives His children everything they ask for, but that would HAVE be the incorrect interpretation of that scripture.

It's just not the reality of life.

How many dead people are there that we wish were still alive?

I could go on and on....

Let it be understood that Apostolic Friends Forum is an Apostolic Forum.
Apostolic is defined on AFF as:


  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.
