I don't get it, I just don't get it!! I've been raised in this thing called UPCI, and am a very proud member to this day (22 years old). Okay, so why can't I wear shorts, well let me rephrase....why is it looked down upon when I wear them. What's the justification (scripture, etc.). Women can now where their skirts clear up to their knees, with their legs showing (and no panty-hose). Why can't I wear shorts, when I'm out running and excercising, or when I'm just out in general. . . .
Depends. Are your legs ugly?
Edit: Are you a guy? If you're a gal, sorry, I wouldn't have asked you about your legs, if I'd known. But, still. It does kinda matter.

My wife has a few shorts that look very much like Daisy Dukes. She feels uncomfortable wearing them outside of the house but I keep telling her she looks just fine in them! <hint hint>

When I was in college, 19-22, I started to question some of the standards that I had been raised with. I experimented with sleeve lengths and questioned God about the issues with shorts. My pastor gave me some latitude to pray and discover.
God first showed me the problems with a pair of shorts. I had barely got done asking Him about it while waiting for class to begin, and a young man in knee length shorts sat down across from me. As he was sitting as those of us who are guys do, I could see 3/4 of his thigh. That was the last time that I ever even asked about wearing shorts. The possible solution to this is for men to learn how to sit like ladies when ladies are wearing skirts that short.(j/k)
God then dealt with my sleeves and for two or three years I would request frequent reminders as to why I wear my sleeves where I do. He never failed to grant that request.

How many on this forum were "trained up in the way they should go", so that when
they become adults, they will not depart from it! From what! Their training up in the
way they SHOULD go, or live! If we, as adults, don't know how to possess our vessels,
how are your children, grandchildren, etc., going to know. We should be their example.
The UPC or any other organization didn't raise me! My late parents raised me and my
ten siblings, and taught us the way we should go. When we become adults, we should
know how to live, including how to feed ourselves, walk, talk, dress, etc.

LOL the point was, when that "doctrine" came about of teaching to no wear shorts, they were the extremely short Shorts. We are not talking knee length, we are talking where the male genitalia is almost on display. That was the sports attire of the early to late 40's.
Are today's current male shorts modest? You know the ones that go past your knees? Sure. I would not be offended.
