Pastor Chris' girlfriend: "OK, but that is what Pastor Chris said"
New Convert: "Fine, I'll go tell my 6'10 390 powerlifter husband, and let him decide. Then he will stop by your house in the morning. So, I advise you and Pastor Chris be dressed before you open the door"

I had originally asked if Jesus and the other men of his day wore anything that visibly distinguished them from Jewish women. There has been a great deal of talk on underwear, but that, unlike in our day, was not visible.

When did they have a completed set of New testament documents?
So for the lionshare of the New Testament being hammered out they were teaching and instructing out of the Old.

Man, tell'em again! Because technically the Gospels are the end of the Old Testament. The Book of Acts is the first book of the New Testament, the rest are letters to churches, and people, and the book of Revelations. The Apostles lived the New Testament they know nothing about it. They went straight off the Old Testament.
That proves the importance of both, I don't know which reformer came up with that philosophy of thats the Old Testament we follow the new, but he was sorely wrong. Im not telling you to fall the dietary law, or the ceremonial law, but the moral law absolutely!

The verses I was looking at were in the Gospels, some from things Jesus said or as described as wearing.
They didn't wear visible trousers like we wear. Over their underwear, which the only thing we have to go by here is that Exodus passage which describes something like boxer shorts, they wore a tunic, which basically was a long shirt. A cloak was worn over this. So regarding the tunic, it was more skirt-like than like our trousers. In the larger Greco-Roman world, trousers were not worn by men, except by the Germans and others regarded as barbarians.

By now, you should know that I don't care one bit who agrees with me. I just want to discuss topics, present my thoughts, and know that my thoughts aren't being mischaracterized to mean something I don't mean.
Why would you say that about Joe?

So you think these men rode horses and mules in underwear with tunics over them?

guys, you can just get a concordance and search the Gospels for verses about clothes. You'll find tunics, cloaks, sandals, etcs. Their underwear is not mentioned I don't believe, but again, in the OT it was described as boxer shorts. Again I'm talking about visible clothing. They did not wear trousers like ours. Then go read a Bible dictionary or encyclopedia. All this is covered. You will not find trousers mentioned as something Jews, Greeks, or Romans wore.

Perhaps some men wore trousers in certain contexts. But the average Judean is in consideration. How does one "gird up their loins" in trousers?
