Well, my husband would certainly like to make it till June without running the air, but I can't stand it that long. Right now we aren't running the heat or the air, and we should be able to squeeze in at least a couple more weeks before it starts getting too cold at night to go without the heat. Plus, I like to air the house out.

When did you live in this area...and where?

Re: How to Save Money

Yesterday, my daughter and I went to Goodwill to get our winter clothes. Well, I have enough from last year, but a few "new" items are nice. I got 6 very nice sweaters/vests/shirts etc. All Christopher and Banks, Nordstrom, North Crest etc. like new. These were all half price. Then I got a couple of pairs of pants. My daughter really went to town, which is okay, because she hardly ever shops for anything. We went through her closet this summer and seriously weeded, so she was replacing things that needed replacing for the most part. She got a lot of nice tops, jeans etc. We spent $89.00, which is a lot for us for one outing. I also got my husband a pair of pants (that must be returned!) and my son a shirt.

I get most of my clothes at Goodwill but I get some elsewhere. You just can't beat the quality for the prices.

Re: How to Save Money

It was recently my birthday, so I have a buy one get one free meal for Old Country Buffet. My husband is taking me out. (He knows that being cheap is PART of his gift to me.) It makes me happy.

Re: How to Save Money

That reminds me. I was supposed to be getting coupons for something on my birthday, but they've never showed up. Signed up for it, and it was the very first time I used my new address for anything, before we moved a couple years ago. (They said it wouldn't be mailed until later, in time for my birthday.) Need to follow up on that. Free wings, or something, I don't remember.

Oh, did I forget to mention the restaurant? It was Hooters!

Re: How to Save Money

For another money saver, I buy a small bottle of liquid fabric softener, also a small box of dryer sheets, after i have used the sheets once I then drop them into another pint jar, fill half full with the liquid softener then on the next load of laundry wring out a sheet or two and toss in dryer again. can be used several times until the sheets wear out.

Good idea. I never practiced that one!

Re: How to Save Money

I just applied to change our credit card over to one that offers money back according to our use. We pay our credit card off every month- so we will see how this works.
