So, in essence, that event was more an illustration of Satan's perseverance (or ignorance) rather than Jesus' humanity?
Just asking...I do see you point.....but, either Satan was unaware that Jesus couldn't fall, or was stubbornly trying to prove his point......or just be a general nuisance.

He is a stinking nuisance if you ask me. And he WAS ignorant to stand against God in heaven. What was the difference against Jesus Christ - God manifest in the flesh? Let me try that one more time!
He can't possibly win, so he must be ignorant and arrogant.
On a side note, I get very annoyed to hear anyone preaching more about the devil than the power of God and the strength in His Word.

Genesis
5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
6:5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.
Psalms:
Psa 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Psalms 58:2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
These passages show fallen mans true nature and it is deaconess as wicked and sinful it is with this that Paul says he struggled with in Romans 7. It is this nature that calls SIN THAT DWELLETH IN ME it is this that he calls the LAW OF SIN AND DEATH it is this that he calls a BODY OF DEATH and praise God it is this that he says in Romans 8:3 he was freed from by the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Once again I am NOT talking about a sin nature.

How many times have I said that so far?

PO the Gospel writers gave no hint that the temptation was simply a matter of play acting on the part of Christ. They saw the temptation as real.
No where in the account of the temptation was at anytime hinted that Jesus could have said Satan you have to bounce you know I can't sin.
He can't understand my temptation unless He truly walked through real temptation. He was tempted at all points.

I never implied that Jesus was "play acting". The challenge of Satan was real. Just as real as in Heaven. He was challenging the "flesh" now.
I agree that He was tempted in all points as a man. Therefore, He does sympathize with our weaknesses.
The scripture still stands that He did not need anyone to "testify/witness" what was in man, he knew what was in man. How? "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3
I still contend that you must be deceived in order to sin, and Jesus could not be deceived. That doesn't mean He would not be tempted nor challenged.
He was baptized of John in order to "fulfill all righteousness", he was also tempted like as we - yet without sin. Why? Because He was perfect, the lamb slain from the foundation of the world, chosen to be the High Priest - it was not possible that He could sin. It was only possible that he would be challenged, which He was by Satan and even by the Pharisees. That continues to be my view.

If I am tempted with something that I can not give into is it really a temptation? Somethings we won't know on this side of Heaven.
In your opinion was was Christ Baptized since you brought up the subject.

Was God able to give into and fall into Satan's power when he challenged His authority in Heaven? Isn't it the same difference - God manifest in the flesh?
How could the God that stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. ( Job 26:7) ever possibly fail us in Heaven or on Earth?
Are you tempted by everything that comes before you? More plainly, there are very few men that can tempt me, but woe to me to the one that can. That's when you really need God.
Jesus was God manifest in flesh. What was Satan tempting Him with that He didn't already have?

Can you not fail a test???? Is it a true test if you have the key to the test??? Where in scripture does it say that He could not have given it to those temptation or test. He was born without and died without sin as to be the spotless lamb.
There are very few women that can tempt me because I am high maintenance.
Good stuff sister!
