This isn't published yet, but the society for Pentecostal studies allowed discussion on "Homosexual pole dancing as worship."
Vomit.
RELIGIOUS NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD
The Evolution of the Pentecostal church – Pentecostals have been ridiculed for their lack of appreciation of education in the early years and we have suffered due to it. We have the snake handlers, which I respect for their "faith" yet fear their faith overrides reason. But the Pentecostal Church today is not your grandfather's Pentecostal Church! The Society for Pentecostal Studies was founded by our Horace S. Ward, Jr. and a couple of others to bring needed academics to a more credible level within Pentecostaldom. The founders would have never dreamed of how low Pentecostal academicians could stoop. I sat with the writer of the following article last year as an anti- Semitic, anti-Israel Christian Palestinian spoke at the society's conference which I foolishly thought was as low as it could get. He and I, along with a couple of Charismatic ladies and their rabbi guests, to my knowledge, were the only folks who did not stand to give him his ovation. My comments on the article below were: "Though very saddened, as the leader of a small historic Pentecostal denomination, I wish to express my deepest appreciation to Jeff Walton and the IRD for this valuable critique. In the life of every movement, there comes forks in the road, choices provided by God, Himself; choices allowing us to take introspection from the mirror of the Word; opportunities for self- correction. We Pentecostals boast of the leading of the Spirit, yet, at times, we hear the Spirit the least. I am also saddened that the Institute for Religion and Democracy, created as a clarion call to Mainline Denominations to return to orthodoxy, now must turn their attention to once the most conservative of Evangelical movements. I only trust that God will forgive our arrogance toward other believers and most importantly, our arrogance in the distortion of God’s Word and turning our ears and hearts away from Almighty God." Then, I hear that in the same SPS meeting, a workshop was given which a presenter actually said that homosexual pole dancing should be seen as Pentecostal worship! The speaker suggested that that anything, including sin, could be worship. Someone asked if bump and grind dancing could be worship. "Absolutely!" was the response. The Southern Baptist Convention fought back against the moderates and won. I fear the heroes of the faith have died within Pentecostalism and the young Pentecostals bringing this perversion are winning the day. In responding to critics of the address, AG General Superintendent George O. Wood issued a statement saying the AG does not condone any of its ministers who condone sin and is waiting on a transcript of the full message before commenting further."
