Not to change the topic, but...

20 years ago today I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. It was a Sunday night evangelistic service, as they called it. This was my 3rd time visiting this church. I responded to the altar call. I went to the front of the church and knelt at a wooden altar that was located directly in front of the pulpit.

I was surrounded by people praying with and for me. Loudly. Very loudly. There was a lot of speaking in tongues. As I was kneeling, praying quietly.... the sound of everyone disappeared. It's as if I was in a different place. I was in the presence of my God. I could hear myself speaking to God. Humbly, quietly. Pouring out my heart. I don't know how long I was there. I've been there a few times after... and it's been a long time since I've been there, in that place where everything and everyone seems to vanish. And you are there. In His presence. Forgive my ramblings. Back to the story...

And in an instant I could suddenly hear the sound of everyone that was around me, a sound of excitement as they rejoiced, "he got it, he got it." At this same moment I heard myself speaking forth strange sounds that expressed my heart in a "language" that was not native to me.

Immediately after I was baptized in Jesus' name.

This is pretty old now too-- I just have a hard time accepting it!

Be ye filled with the Holy Ghost. We aren't in a wrestling match with ourselves. We shouldn't be religiously or spiritually bipolar. A made up mind does wonders when we decide it is His way, and only His way.
