If I didn't know he was above such fallibility I would think some of you posters have been getting to him. As borne out by his name calling. Again kind of below the high bar he set out for everybody at the beginning of his thread.

I also am starting to think we need to start a pool to predict which "I am done" type remark will actually be his last word on this subject.

In the meantime I will just continue to be bemused as well as amused. Personally I am waiting for some more "God kills the saints" stories like the one he told about some woman talking about a preacher then God killed her, her husband, and their infant child because of it. Shame she wasn't here to defend herself. Also funny how I can't think of a single time God has taken out one of these duplicitous preachers who has been living in sexual sin while standing behind a pulpit preaching. I guess God only kills the saints in these situations. Must be some doctrinal point I missed when I earned my Theology degree.
His "love" is over flowing...so deep I need some wadders for all his "posts"

Re: Dropped By & Somewhat Dismayed But Not Surpris

Here is what happened with the UPCI...it was tossed together quickly not long after its members being "expelled" from the AOG.

They were in a rush to plant new churches and send missionaries (Sad thing is we do the same thing today) so they just sent these men out who have proven themselves as good preachers.

The problem is, most did not have a deep theological nor Pastoral training. Despite the fact we have schools now and a lot of students going to them, we still plant new churches with men who never went to any theological school but what they learned from their pastor, and that pastor from his pastor and so on and so on.

There are a lot of great men out there but often times bad theology or bad pastoring techniques are just being regurgitated

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Like the churches that get passed from father to son as if it was their personal property. I don't think it is a just a UPC thing.

Any good attorney would eat up Insider's testimony, much of it hearsay, at least second hand information. I doubt the person is honest when mentioning how rare they gossip.

Sad.

So now you can tell by reading someone's post whether they are honest or not.

Why would an attorney need to eat up his testimony?

I was baptized at 6, and cannot, to this day remember it. It hurts my heart. Did I learn from MY experience tho? Of course not! I was the atypical Apostolic- my children were all baptized before age of 6 and all had the HG by age 8. I feel that I was done a grave disservice by all the scare tactics preacher's used in my generation. It accomplished what THEY wanted- a full altar, and high #s to talk about the next time the 'good ol boys' club got together and bragged about their many exploits. I have even heard Pastors talkin about saints like they were on the auction block. "Ahhh, now Doc- if u take the 'So and So family' off my hands, I will pay tithes to YOU..." Or.."You sure you wont take the 'So and So's' off my hands, doc? I will give'em the gas money to drive across town!" HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR.... Even the memory makes me want'a puke. Wonder how it makes God feel, to hear MEN talkin about sumthin so precious to HIS HEART that He gave His life for it?

Do I sound bitter? Guess so... Sorry
.

When I was about 8 and had been baptized and was praying to be baptized with the Holy Ghost there were times I went to the altar (I knew I was expected to) and just didn't have much emotion about it that night so I would imagine my dad dying and that would bring tears to my eyes. That kind of haunted me a few years later when my father died when I was a teenager.

Our church goes through books of the bible one at a time (earlier this year we spent six months on Genesis!) and last Sunday we started Revelation. We generally cover one chapter each Sunday with the preacher reading every verse and preaching from the word. My wife went to our pastor and told him she is looking forward to going through Revelation now since she dreaded it so much when she was young in an old time Pentecostal church. There it was a time of fear and scare tactics

Back in the late '70's Richard Heard (who ironically enough left the UPC and has been a totally different type preacher the last 20+ years ) was one of the main guys who could pull them in by the bus loads giving six week long revivals on Revelation that would bring an influx of converts who left as soon as the fear did. I remember some pregnant women in the church really having to battle depression after six weeks of doom and gloom because they felt so horrible about bringing a child into the world in the middle of it.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I remember RHeard very well. I asked my dad once, why preachers used scare tactics to get folks in the altar. His response? "Hell is a horrible place, that should be avoided at all costs. I will use whatever means I have, to get people in the altar and to get them thinking about their eternity. Folks come to God for all sorts of reasons- eventually, they will serve Him because they LOVE Him..."

LOL, not surprised after reading some of your other posts. You sir are a rather pathetic so called christian, if in deed that is what you are. BTW, this will be my last response to your nonsensical post. My advice, get a life!
