I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
Do yall preach about bars and the outside sinful world alot to your congregation...LOL
That seems to be all I hear lately is alot of talk about bars and (The World and how bad it is) I would find it safe to say that the people I go to church with do not go to bars we have a really small church so why preach on it....I did not learn anything biblical yesterday at Sunday school because the preacher was complaining about the Outside world so much..It was a visiting preacher also.
Unhappy at your church? Easy solution: find something you like.
Could there have been a struggling alcoholic in the congregation (saved or unsaved) that needed that?
"Flock, a-ha. I just wanna say a few words about them discotechs. People's in there smokin', people's in there drinkin. People's in there dancing, a-ha. I tell you flock, a-ha, them discotechs ain't nothin' but a regular Sodom and Gamore, a-ha. Where you goin', Virgil, a-ha?"
"I'm goin' over to one of those discotechs!"
"You come back here, Virgil, a-ha!"
My brothers and I used to love to hear some of the old elders, and our grandparents when we were young, using old fashioned terms ( I'm only31)
Such terms as pool hall, dance hall, movie house. My grandmother who is 86 still calls any cd a record and any stereo a phonograph.
BARS! We don't even eat in restaurants that serve booze.
This was my beloved Grandmother's standard for the family so I follow it.She is a real old time Saint. We are looking at loosing her at anytime. She is 86 and in very poor health , so I'm bracing myself for the blow. She never preached behind the pulpit, but she could really straiten you out !
There aren't many eating places that don't serve alcohol and most Chili's, Applebees, and even Mimi's restaurants have a small bar too.
My wife is a great cook and I prefer to eat her cooking anyhow.I think some great preachers in Pentecost ruin part of their testimony by being obese. Don't get me wrong I love them, my best friend from childhood is well over 300.
