Of course it is a process. But attaining victory is the process through way of realization and revelation! Paul wrote Romans 6 as though we merely need to GET IT. And then, once we realize we have all those things going for us, it remioves the expectancy to sin away, and we expect (have faith) to not sin! One would stop and think, "If I have all THAT gointg for me, why in the world have been expecting to fail all the time, and sin every so often?"

I fully believe the work of the cross affects us to the point of giving us THIS sort of victory. And it is fully an issue of how we EXPECT to sin, and how that needs to be removed.

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous

We probably don't need this promise to the Church then...we'll achieve spiritual maturity...and then, just wait for His coming...

Who is he writing to there? LITTLE CHILDREN.

Quote:
1Jo 2:12-14 KJV I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. (13) I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. (14) I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Little children are like the Romans who do not KNOW. John would not have told them he wrote to them so that they cease sinning if that was impossible in this life.

The goal is for children to "mature".

Quote:
Eph 4:12-16 KJV For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: (13) Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: (14) That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (16) From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

You mean, like Paul did before he got the remedial revelation.
