Re: Today, I Saw One of the Most Horrifying Things

PP, I commend you. It is truely a frightening thing to see the hand of God move.

The reason, I know to pray for the Mercy of God in the lives of those who do wrong, is because I know they will face His Judgement.

What an aweful thing.

Pastor Poster...I do believe God is definetly in your corner.
But how can you say such a thing? I understand that we all want the mercy and grace of God to cover the earth, but doesn't His mercy involve His judgement?

If God never avenged the adversaries of the righteous, we would be left with the impression that he is (a) unjust, and (b) uninvolved.

Look, it's not that I am praying fire down on people's heads here. I often say these words "thank God we don't always get what we deserve.'

But....I do believe there are somethings we can do that God responds to very quickly. Chiefly, intentionally harming His children.

I'm not taking anyone to the woodshed .... (funny ) .... just sharing thoughts, ideas and experience is all.

Thanks, by the way.

I definitely do believe that God judges. It's just that I'm not going to be the one who threatens that or wreaks it on people.

"Vengeance is mine. I will repay" is what God says. That responsibility is His. We have other responsibilities given to us in Scripture like forgiving, turning the other cheek, repaying evil with good just to name a few .......and if we do what God has told us to do then we'll reap the benefits of that.

David wouldn't touch Saul in spite of Saul's harassment, jealousy, treachery and evil acts. God however, did take care of Saul in time.

Yes. On the cross Jesus didn't ask God to punish his persecutors. He's our example. It's no longer eye for an eye.

This is true...God will take care of His business.

And Felicity's words from a few posts back are true as well..."God however, did take care of Saul in time."

When God does His thing and metes out judgment, it is not a pretty thing. Our prayer should be, "Lord, have mercy!!"

I asked that He bring them to a place of repentance and wipe their slate clean. It's been a protection for my spirit and healing for my heart.

True and wise words.
One of the hardest things do do is to pray for our enemies.

And it can be tough sometimes too, to make sure we don't gloat when we see our enemies fall.

Even when I dont always feel like praying for my enemies or adversaries, I make myself do it, and when I'm done I feel better for it.

Besides, the Bible says blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

And the fact is, all of us are going to need mercy someday.
