For me it all goes back to not letting my good be evil spoken of. And yes, it is because I love my wife that I would not meet as some here would. People in the public that don't know me would have no idea wherther I love my wife or not. This discussion really has me scratching my head.
I think RRFord is right here. I tend to shy away from anything that anyone could take and use against us or the ministry. There is something to avoiding the appearance of evil. I know that I'm innocent, but not everyone else in town knows that I'm innocent. Same for my husband. We make it a rule NOT to be alone with anyone of the opposite sex, not because of temptation, but to protect the integrity of our church and ministry. JMHO.

BTW, I know that Renda, MOW and SHoover are all innocent, because we know and love them. I'm definitely not throwing stones here.

Good question. Why would you meet someone of the opposite sex without your spouse ? A chance encounter, a secret lover, an affair in the making ? What kind of fishy affair do you have going on ?

Or am I just being extremly nosy and probably should mind my own affairs instead of worrying about somebody elses since thats how rumors get started is by someone of whom its no business of asking questions thats not their place to ask?

ummmm Last I checked the poster started a thread on a single person meeting a married person and ask for thoughts on it and I gave mine. far from being nosy or getting into the affairs of someone else.

I understand the views of those wanting precautions. But, every road has two ditches. So, although I agree that there is a ditch on the one side and precautions should be taken, I will also argue there is a ditch on the other, that if we aren't careful, we get so stuck on precautions that we forget that precautions are precautions and breaking the precautions is not the sin.

Having one's spouse there may cramp one's style. Just sayin'.

I do think that the ministry have to be careful about appearances- but I also think that the way you conduct your self during a meeting will prevent anyone- the person meeting with you and onlookers- from reading improprieties into the meeting. A person's body language, and general conduct is easy to read if they are careful and aware. Again, I think the ministry have to be extra careful in this regard.

Wow, this thread is cruzin.

Lets discuss cautions concerning men meeting with men - especially if they also play music any extra cautions needed? Are they better off meeting with women only?

With all due respect I think it varies for different people, and again reserving judgment against your fellow believer is key.

I think it is mostly a matter of maturity and self discipline. For example, I routinely meet with members of the opposite sex for coffee to discuss business. (mostly real estate agents and sales personnel) Also, I am alone with ladies in their homes on a regular basis at the time of my service calls. It is not uncommon for my first job in the mornings to be met by the lady of the house in her bath robe. These are both new and repeat customers.

Bless all of you.

Avoid the appearance of impropriety as you see it and never violate your conscience, but also know you can't please everyone all the time.
Any comments on this part of my post?

How would you handle my job?
