I Got Power!!!!
After being without electricity since the storms yesterday morning our electricity is finally back on. Since we have a well rather than city water that also meant no water. This morning I poured some deer park water out of a bottle into a pan to wash up with before work and skipped shaving.
But its all good now.

Re: I Got Power!!!!
One of the few things I regret about being all electric here. The pump for our well is electric and not working. When the electricity goes out in the summer I go sit in my car for the a/c. In the winter we have a fireplace in the living room and a wood burning stove on our built in back porch. Survival in Texas.

We have a wood stove as well and it sure has come in handy when the power goes out. We make good use of our grill with the side burner and camp stove too during the power outages. I think my wife and kids spent the day at the mall since it was hot and humid today. Wonder what that will cost me? I don't remember the power being out this much when I lived on the west coast.

What is deer park water?
Not sure I'd want to be using that on my face.

Re: I Got Power!!!!
We have powerful storms here in the spring and summer. Usually ice storms knock out power in the winter. Though not as often as the summer storms it takes longer for power to be restored.
We cook on the wood burning stove also. We have cast iron skillets and pots.

Last winter we went about 4 days without power, and we didn't have the wonderful Deer Park water then.

Re: I Got Power!!!!
You know you can use hot water heater and toilet tank water for some things like bathing. Not cooking or drinking though unless boiled long enough to kill bacteria.

This old house doesn't have a water heater (Oh and why would you have a HOT water heater? I can see having a COLD water heater) it has an oil furnace that heats the water but doesn't have any kind of reservoir.
