Hymns... does it matter..........
Does it matter to you who wrote the hymns you sing in worship or what they believed when they wrote them?
I'm reading a book about the history of the great hymns of the church. I am seriously surprised how many of the hymns that we know and love were written by people who belonged to the Unitarian church.
I did a search to find what the Unitarian church believes and found that they don't believe in the trinity. But they also don't believe that Jesus was any more than a good man.
How those people came up with such fantastic words for their hymns when their theology is soooooooooo far off.
What do you think? Does it make any difference to you what the song writer believed when they wrote what they wrote?
