We went to a party at Christ Church, Nashville, yesterday to celebrate the 80th birthday of one of my favorite people in the world - Bro. L H Hardwick. He's actually only 20, as his birthday falls on Leap Year day, but we celebrated 80. It was a great time! I got to meet Dave Ramsey, who got up and told how as a young man in his twenties (just a heathen), Bro. Hardwick led him to repentance and faith in Jesus in the Hardwick's living room. He used to play with Mike and Steve Hardwick when they were kids, and had known the family for years.
Eddie also spoke, as well as Phil Goldsberry, Scott Jones and several others. It was a fun day of OLD music and lots of memories. Then we stayed and had dinner at this great little Italian place called Cafe Nonna with our daughter and SIL, and the Goldsberry's and their daughter and SIL. We were tired when we got home, but it was fun!
I didn't know about this or would have been there for sure! I went to our early service this morning and watched Christ Church's second service this morning live on the web.
When this service is archived and available to watch I urge anybody who either knows L.H. Hardwick's ministry or who wants to just hear the words of a man who pastored the same church for over 50 years.
They did an informal round table with Pastor Hardwick, Dan Scott, both of Bro. Hardwicks sons and his sister in law.
L.H. Hardwick is an amazing man of God. His integrity is impeachable. Even those who disagree with him doctrinally can atest to this.
I told my wife one time that I wished we could have sat under his ministry when he was younger as we only got to enjoy a decade of it before he retired.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Wish you guys would have been there!! We had a fun day.
I usually check out the CC website every few weeks but apparently not in enough time to know about these birthday events. I hate I missed it.
My wife has pneumonia so it would have only been me but I would have gone.
