By "chose", God CHOSE Abraham not necessarily to be saved but to be through whom God would eventually bring the Messiah and peace to the world
God chooses everyone now to believe but we have to choose to accept
Jos 24:15 If it seem evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.
