Lyrics Long Winding Road

Can someone check these lyrics for me? Let me know if I have any words wrong?

V1
When I made my start for Heaven, I could only find one way,
A road that led me through the mountains and the valleys,
A road not many folks could take, When I started out on my journey, I left many many miles behind me, miles of tears and pain, miles of storms and rain, this roads been rough, but I again would choose the same….

Chorus
Long Winding road, keep leading me, up ahead I see a sign,
Pointing straight ahead to victory,
I know I must be traveling’ right, I remember passing by, Calvary, Yes I do, Yes I do,
Although it’s dusty and it’s old, for years it’s borne the traveler’s load, someday this road will turn to Gold.

V2
There are times when the rocks hurt my feet, my body burns from the sweat and heat, My strength completely drains, and my face marks the pain, my back is bent from the strain,
You see, I could turn back now, but the road is still there, and every mountain that I’ve climbed, I again would have to bear, so I really can’t turn back, some may be using’ my tracks, I see one more bend and it may be this road’s end…

"To see no being, not God’s or any, but you also go thither,
To see no possession but you may possess it—enjoying all without labor or purchase—
abstracting the feast, yet not abstracting one particle of it;…."

My pastor's wife usually starts off every song with "Well it's.." at full volume.

Try that at the beginning of each verse...it'll work wonders

A road not many folks could take, SINCE I started TRAVELING on my journey, I'VE COVERED many many miles behind me, miles of SUN and RAIN, miles OF SMILES AND PAIN. THE roads been rough, but I again would choose the same….

Chorus
Long AND Winding road, keep ON leading me, up ahead I see a sign,
THAT POINTS ME straight ahead to victory,
I know I must be traveling’ right, FOR I remember passing Calvary.
Although it’s dusty and it’s old, for years it’s BORE the traveler’s load, someday this road will turn to Gold.

There are SOME times when the rocks hurt my feet, my body burns from the sweat and THE heat, My strength's completely drained TILL my face marks the pain, my back is bent from the strain,
OH, I COULD TURN AROUND, FOR the road's still there, BUT every mountain that I’ve climbed, I again would have to bear, so I really can’t turn back, some may be using’ my tracks, I see one more bend and THIS JUST MIGHT be MY road’s end…

The ENDING you left out...."And for some...this roads already turned to gold".

That is strange! I just put my Johnny Cook "spirit" LP (1979) on my computers hard drive with a program called "spin it again"! Here is what the cover of it looks like

http://www.mymusicway.com/artists/c/jcook.html

I will listen to it.

Well.... I listened to it and I corrected the mistakes in BOLD LETTERS. You can listen to this same song on diana's web site on page 1

http://www.gospelmusicnet.com/

Scroll down about 1/4 of the page and look for
Long Winding Road by The Late Great Johnny Cook

(Just click on that link and scroll down to it) NOTE: if you don't have it....you have to download and install realplayer 8 (she has a link on the site to download it, realplayer 10 and above does not work on her site, you may want to uninstall any other realplayers you have first)

Also, you CAN'T download any of the songs, but you can listen to them on the site for as long as you want. I go there all the time. Great site with tons of older music.

Hope that helped you. By the way, Mickey Mangun was the one that wrote that song years ago! At least she is in the credits for the writer of that song on my album.
