I would love to have you look me in the eye and tell me that Jesus violating the Sabbath means you don't need a pastor or teacher or church in your life as Ephesians chapter 4 says you do. I have a feeling you would have a hard time doing it and if you could then you owe an apology to any Pentecostals that you have ever said used logic that didn't make sense in their belief system.
I have lost all respect for you over this amazing justification for being out of church. You ought to at least have the honesty to just say you are ignoring Gods word in that regard.

If I have to chose between losing your respect and being abused spiritually as has been my experience in all the years I went to church, I chose losing your respect.
I'm sorry there has to be any choice at all but apparently there has to be.

So every single church you could attend would be "spiritual abuse"? Hogwash!
Has it ever dawned on you that if every single church is bad in your mind that maybe the problem is with you and not all the churches?
I am not diminishing the hurt and issues you had with church in your past. What I am saying is that you are using that as an excuse to not be in any church and that excuse is not biblical despite your convoluted logic regarding Jesus and the Sabbath.

Bro, if you're trying to encourage her back to going to church, I don't think your tone is helping at all...just sayin'
For the record, she and her husband PASTORED a church, so it's not like she was just a member and then she does not want to go anymore.
They were ACTIVE in there. If she's not going right now, maybe she still needs times off to heal.
By the way, going to "church" does NOT mean you're in THE CHURCH
and not going to "church" does NOT mean you're NOT in THE CHURCH (by ONE Spirit, we are baptized into the CHURCH)
So instead of hammering her for what position she took, it'd be more helpful to consider her walk with the Lord. To see where she's at, to encourage her walk with the Lord, and then see where the Lord leads her as per gathering with other fellow believers...

It is because she is no novice, was a pastors wife AND has had YEARS to get beyond the hurt of the past enough to plug into a church that can feed her now that I have said what I have said. ILG and I go back a lot of years on this forum and the forum we were on prior to this one. She knows that for years I have had compassion on her past situation and understand what transpired. As a friend I am saying that at some point in time you have to stop letting the past dictate your future and be an excuse not to be in a church where you can be encouraged, discipled, taught, loved, etc. I have no apologies for what I have said.

If you have been run over by a truck, you might have years to recover and yet be in pain for the rest of your life. You simply cannot relate to what I went through so maybe you should save yourself some energy and quit judging it. At this point in my life, I am not planning to ever be a church member again. I wish I could because I would like to be a part of a community but it feels impossible. This forum is as close as I can get and most of the time I end up wanting to run away from here too. I show up and I talk about some of my past experiences and people get out their baseball bats and beat me to death. The only way to heal is get away where I am not being beaten. That's why I don't come around too much and why I stay away from church.

Not all churches are abusive. So it begs the question, needing to be healed or not, why not find one where you CAN be healed?

In the case of a couple who pastored in a local area, and are known in that area (being unjustly associated with a church scandal), it may be a bit harder then the average pew sitting saint. Not impossible, just sticker.

I just don't think anything I could say to you in this regard will make you happy unless I tell you I will be at church next week, which is why I didn't answer you the first time you asked me the question. You continued to press and I said I have told you the answer to this question in my opinion before, you just didn't agree. And again.....I told you because you were pressing and then after you squeezed it out of me, you proceed to call my ideas asinine and go on this litany against what I said. You and I disagree, plain and simple. You may have noticed that I don't feel I have to justify myself to you or anybody else. For some reason that bugs some people to death. But, I really am free of the need to justify myself. When I speak it is because I want to and no other.
