In most states deadly force is described as any force which is intended to cause death or serious injury. Serious injury would mean any force which might cause permanent disfiguration or and injury which would leave a person permanently crippled.
So when someone confronts you they must be threatening you with deadly force before you can use deadly force against them. Now some of you won't agree with that. Not my deal it's what the courts say. If you shoot and kill someone unjustly than you will be facing one of several things. One a prison sentence, civil action by family members in the civil courts. If they lose there then they can take to to a civil action in the federal courts. This means years and years of depositions where you have to answer questions about every personal thing in your life from the time your are a child. After about six or seven years of that you will probably regret the fact you didn't stop and think first.

This is true, in some states you must make a "reasonable effort" to escape in addition to being limited to meeting force with equal force. so if a guy breaks into your house in some places, you have to figure out what he intends, and if he is armed.

then and only then can you make a plan. escape must be first on your list and only after you figure out he wants to do you harm, can you return deadly force.

however, some of us live in Texas...enter at your own risk...

NO! Don't think about it then think now and clearly understand before that situation presents itself. My advice to any guns owners if they are not familiar with the laws and operation of weapons is to take a class conducted by a professional instructor. That way everyone will understand fully what to do and when to do it..

Ya, a few of the East coast states are like this, but the majority -like Arizona, allows for a full on hail of lead to anyone who enters a private residence by force.

in Texas we call it the Castle Law.

I have a buddy that is an Asst. DA. He told me that Castle Law is being abused by bad guys.

they are inviting other bad guys to their homes then killing them to get rid of compitition.

Isn't Arizona where that farmer got sued for holding illegal aliens caught on his property at gun point until the BP showed up ? May have been New Mexico.

I think it was Arizona. It seems like he had to pay $87,000. Ridiculous.

I actually don't remember hearing much about that but it could have been. The sheriff in that area is nutz anyways. Yes, there are bastions of liberalism, even here.

Yes , and that was in criminal court, he still has a civil suit pending thats asking for millions. How do illegal aliens even have the right to sue in our courts ? Are they here illegally when they have to appear ?
