I have a 10 lb Pom and I don't think she will do much damage. Her hearing is not as good as it used to be. So Smith and Wesson and something else will have to do in a pinch. However, I hope and PRAY I never have to use it, but use it I will IF the situation ever arises.

lol, I am not sure if she would actually attack, I think she might. However, I would rather her not because I do not want her injured or killed.

What I love about her is she will give me ample warning and notice to prepare myself.

We have a miniature poodle, a miniature yorkie and now we have yorkie poo puppy. LOL...

They wouldn't hurt anything. But they would sure bark like crazy if they heard anybody. I would assume that a bunch of yelping dogs is more attention than a burglar wants. While they offer no real protection the attention they bring is helpful I would think.

INDEED. Avoidance is always the optimal solution IMO.

We had a St. Bernard, she was a very effective deterrent. Of course she didn't differentiate between the good guys and the bad guys. I heard someone saying help, help, one day. Went outside, she had the meter reader on the ground, laying on top of him....
Our chows were no slouches either. They pretty much just had to be there, very effective.

Chows are very territorial and loyal, make good watch dogs.

Re: Guns For Cash In Austin

Before any of you decide to shoot someone I would suggest you go to the library and read the laws in your state pertaining to deadly force and it's definitions. In some states just because someone breaks into your house does not give you the right to shoot and take their life. In most states deadly force is described as any force which is intended to cause death or serious injury. Serious injury would mean any force which might cause permanent disfiguration or and injury which would leave a person permanently crippled.
So when someone confronts you they must be threatening you with deadly force before you can use deadly force against them. Now some of you won't agree with that. Not my deal it's what the courts say. If you shoot and kill someone unjustly than you will be facing one of several things. One a prison sentence, civil action by family members in the civil courts. If they lose there then they can take to to a civil action in the federal courts. This means years and years of depositions where you have to answer questions about every personal thing in your life from the time your are a child. After about six or seven years of that you will probably regret the fact you didn't stop and think first.

And of course if you stop and think too hard, you could spend eternity regretting you didnt stop someone from killing your family .
