If your going to carry a gun or have one to protect yourself you better ask one question. Do I have the guts to take a human life in the drop of a hat without hesitation?
If you don't or you can't answer that question, then you have no business with a gun because more than likely it could be taken away by the perpetrator and used on you or you and your family. Think About!

God provides food. That is why I thank Him for each meal. But I plant a garden. I work. I buy groceries with my income.
God provides shelter but I bought this house.
Nothing God "provides" is given while we sit idle.
When the Bible says God provides it doesn't mean we sit there and he delivers. It means He provides us the ability and opportunity and then we are able to fulfill these provisions per his help and strength.

I had that kind of thinking when I was younger. When my husband worked nights, and I was the only one here to protect my family. Big county, and sometimes took deputies a long time to arrive. Sometimes a state trooper arrived first. A Texas Ranger might show up, one or two of them live around here. All in all we feel pretty safe around here.

In a situation where a perp is actually in the house and I'm pointing a gun at him, I do not believe there would be ANY hesitation on my part. If he so much as twitched in my direction the clip would be emptied.

My Bible that I read states he has already done it. a in another passage it said the Lord goes before us. Anyway what in your response justifies taking of a human life by a christian in any event. I would like to have a scripture to back that up.
When they begin to persucute the church of Christ in the near future and start to kill christians are you going to bear arms and go out and fight? If your answer is yes, then you need not reply to this post because I will understand where you stand.
Jesus said: If my kingdom was of this world then my servants would fight.
I don't think I'm debating the issue of guns and home protection, I see an overtone in these threads of a anti-government thinking. Not sure if I can agree with that type of mind set.

Who do you think has been used to persecute the Church of Christ throughout the history of the Christian church?
The government.

The same one it has always been and will always be until the Day that Christ returns and sets His rule upon this earth. So, You point to justified rebellion?

Agreed. Not much use having a gun in the house if you are not prepared to use it when needed.
My feelings are the moment someone breaks into my house, they forfeit all rights to their safety.
Of course, the best home defense and alarm system, IMO, is my dog. I have no issues sleeping at night, because she has proven that she will bark at anyone near "her" property. Her property includes a 500 ft radius around my house, lol.

Ya, our dogs are big wusses but the guy thinking about breaking in doesn't know that.
(The only thing Hermes, the border collie, will get violent over is when a cat enters the yard. He gets a very hearty "Good Boy!!!" when he goes after them.)

No.
I'm just pointing to the irony of your statements of how law enforcement (government provided) is our best form of protection and then speak of an impending time when we will be killed for our beliefs. Most likely by government provided law enforcement.
Consistency thou art a jewel.
And... you are the one taking this down the road of killing people with our guns. When I talk about buying guns I am thinking about hunting and sport shooting.
If someone breaks into my house and tries to harm my family or rape my daughters I just might bludgeon him to death with a baseball bat. But that wasn't what I had in mind when I walked into the store and bought a bat for my son's enjoyment.
