Hey I leave, come back, and no one really cares, but you have a voice here as surely as anyone else.
Just because a couple of us disagree with you, and truly do believe you are wrong in this, is no reason to leave.
It's your choice, but don't leave because some cannot cheer you on in this.

Apparently somebody is breaking the rules of this forum. Maybe it's me. I don't know, but if I can't abide by the rules I should leave.

The rules? Sister girl...I agreed with Cindy's post because the 'rules' are often forgotten when some are speaking about the Mother Ship or anything connected with it.
I don't think it was personal...

Well if there are some rules being broken, I don't know what they are. So, I'm just saying. Maybe the people calling my ideas stupid and asinine are breaking the rules. Or maybe I am breaking them because I answered the question about me not attending church anymore. I'm just saying if I can't speak honestly I should leave because there is no point if I can't just be myself. The point about breaking rules was meant for somebody, so what was it meant for?

Re: Just Some Things I've Been Holding In
I think the point that is being missed is that what ILG has gone thru, among hundreds of others, is not a UPC thing, or a CHURCH thing, but a HUMAN thing.......people treat each other poorly, whether you're in the church or out of it. To blame an organization for the actions of its members is akin to blaming the government of a nation when one of it's constituents commits a crime. There may be a connection, but it's not a direct result of the organization.
I agree that the UPC indoctrinates its constituents to view others outside the Mother Ship as "less than", but it's up to the individual to govern his or her own actions toward others.
Now, I say all that to say this - the exact same thing happens in schools, jobs, neighborhoods, clubs, you name it......to expect that you'll ever find a place where no one causes you grief is to expect Nirvana on earth, and just like Santa Claus - that don't exist.
That's why Hemingway wrote this comment, and I'll post it again, just in case it got lost in the shuffle:
“The world breaks everyone, and afterward,
some are strong at the broken places.” Ernest Hemingway

I've tried to make peace here, but you won't hear it, SO...ask Cindy...she posted the keeping the rules reminder.
And just maybe you'll find out she had someone else in mind altogether.
I'm just saying.

Re: Just Some Things I've Been Holding In
I think the rules are just asking us to be kind to one another
http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...hread.php?t=35
Attitudes
Organizations can be discussed but not assaulted.
Posters can have disagreements but not bloodbaths.
Apostolic truth can be questioned but not be mocked.
Doctrinal absolutes can be queried but not criticized.
Admin can be contacted privately but not called out openly.
Standards can be debated but not minimized and disrespected.
Posts can be diametrically opposed but not diabolically attacking.
Concerns can be expressed freely but not just hurled and unrestricted.

Re: Just Some Things I've Been Holding In
ILG I was not singling you out in my post. I totally understand what you and your husband went through is horrible. And I personally hope it's not the norm for any organization.

Re: Just Some Things I've Been Holding In
As to my post about breaking forum rules, one of them is no name calling......IE stupid and asinine, which ILG had happen to her. Or singling out a certain poster for ridicule. Tearing down truth and doctrine. You can disagree without breaking the rules.
