Great slide show. Does anybody know what the sanctuary seats? I have heard a lot of numbers thrown around but I believe it is around 3,500. I heard as high as 5,000 one time but others said that was icorrect.
What is amazing is how soon they built the current church after they build the previous one. I think there was only a seven year gap if I understood the slide show correctly.
Probably the most beautiful modern era church building I have seen. I am going to have to dig out my funeral / wedding suit and someday make a trip to see it in person during a service.

Do they put the overflow in the old building and run a video feed?

lol...possible but I don't think so.
My girlfriend was there last year and said it was crammed tight! Several people were standing.
On a side note...
I'm not sure what night it was but in a crowd this size it could have went unnoticed by many...but there was a group of homosexuals that came in. Mostly women I believe. She was there and saw a couple girls making out during the service. Not sure how many other people saw it.
I don't believe that they stayed for the whole service...im sure their intention was purely disruption/distraction.

Re: Christian Life Center Stockton Question
Parkway has dwindled down, as was mentioned. Their founding pastor Frank Tamel just passed away earlier this year (or late last year).
His son Tony is now the Senior Pastor. Lots of waves, ripples, and gossip abound about the current state of the church. I'm not in the know, so I can't say what has been the cause of the loss of membership.
As for Madison, it hit high marks in the early 2000's. A massive inner city outreach and children's campaign flooded the church with new people.
They were using nearly every auxiliary room and Sunday school area just to accommodate everyone since the sanctuary wasn't big enough.
The Senior Pastor John Grant is ailing; his son Roy is pretty much handling all of the pastoral duties now. There is a plan for a new, much larger building, but I don't know where things are on that end.
(And btw, I guess it's called Calvary Gospel, not Calvary Tabernacle.)

I have seen a few churches in transition and unfortunately I saw one church that did not survive the changes. While I am happy to report that one church in transition had explosive growth.
So the transition destroyed one church but made another a growing church.
So a change in leadership can destroyed one church to the point that they had to close the church, while the other church was filled beyond capacity?
Time will tell what happens to this church. let us just hope it is for the best.
