Kinda weird...after the Starfield concert debacle where kids were injured at a church concert in Abbotsford, BC Canada, I have been praying for the church folk there...then today, while gathering info for a great Canadian songwriter, Brian Doerkson, I found out he is from Abbotsford, so finally in doing a little research about this revival in Florida, I found out the evangelist is from....Abbotsford! I have never heard of this place before and now I am thinking, hmmm weird!

The was a thread started by POWERUP regarding the revival in Florida on the 2nd

Todd Bentley is just a normal guy who God delievered from some mighty rough stuff.
I know when some people see him, they will judge him, cause of his looks. tatoos, piercings, gotee.
But anyway, my friend said there were people getting thier healings, and miracles in the parking lot, before they even got out of the car.
No show boating, just Gods spirit, moving in a mighty way.
Todd Bentleys website is FRESHFIREMINISTRIES.
OR UPSTREAMTV

I know what you mean by Todd Bentley would not be one we would chose to bring revival to that area, just goes to show God doesn't need our permission to use anyone.

And you are so right, about who God uses. We think we know, but we don't have the foggest idea.
I never have understood, how you look, or don't look annointed.

Since I have been watching I have seen many healing take place and miracles happen. Anytime anyone is healed they always glorify Jesus and acknowledge that He healed them.
I envy your friend, thank you for sharing what you have heard. I was wanting to hear a first hand account from someone who actually went.
So did your friend receive a prophetic word or healing? Did your friend witness any healings?
I would love to see people getting touched by God out in a parking lot! That would be amazing!

As far as what a preacher looks like.....Well let me say this. I will never forget about 4 years ago, at my old home church. We had a visiting minister come for a 2 week revival.
I was leading the worship that morning when this fellow walked in, and started coming toward the platform. I looked at one of the other associate pastors, and asked, Is that the preacher? Of course, in a shocked look!
I never enrolled in JCM, but I had several good friends who went there. I practically lived at the place, between 88 and 92.
All that to say this, you know when your around bible school, you have a preconceived idea as to what a minister is supposed to look like, and dress like.
The guy that was coming across the platform to shake my hand, looked rough! crue cut, and all! Looked kinda like Billy Bob Thornton in Slingblade.
Guy had on highwaters, necktie to short, old shoes, etc...
Needless to say, this guy became one of my good friends.
Trust me. For 2 weeks, I was in awe! This guy didn't just quote scripture from memory, he really preached the word.
To this day I have never heard a minister, preach that much conviction in a house. For 2 weeks the altars were full. With me, being the main one. Out of all the preachers that I have been around in this movement, he is the one that I wanted to be like.

When I was at ABI during the 1956/1957 school year, one of my room mates was licensed by the UPC Louisiana district. When he went before the board, they asked him just one question. It was, "How do you stand on television?" He answered, "Strictly against," and that was all they asked. This is not second hand information. He told me this himself.

Re: Lakeland Florida Revival?????
Todd Bentley has been around for some time.
His life BC and AC (Before Christ and After Christ) is dramatically different.
Before he went into the ministry he spent hours and hours each day in "soaking prayer." For some reason, he has had a lot of success in praying for people with deafness --whether partial or complete.

Re: Lakeland Florida Revival?????
I have been watching the revival tonight on GodTv-
Todd Bentley interrupted a woman who was testifying-and said"I just heard the craziest thing, God just told me someone is being raised from the dead in a morgue"-
One of the assistants ran up next to him and said, "I just received a text message from someone who said they are praying for a dead girl in a morgue in Texas"
Then they came back later and said the girls legs were starting to warm up.
A woman that was in a wheelchair for 19 yrs got out and walked.
A woman with hearing aids said she had to sit in the back of the building because the speakers were so loud and that was after she took her hearing aids out.

Re: Lakeland Florida Revival?????
I've watched a couple nights of it so far. I can't find anything that would make me feel like it was not of God. The guy is a weird looking dude, but that just shows that God isn't into stereotypes. There have been amazing miracles of healing, even from people watching it on TV or the internet. I sure wouldn't be one to criticize it!! I want those kinds of miracles here.

Re: Lakeland Florida Revival?????
We often times hear the verse about God being the same yesterday, today and forever, which is true, of course. But astounds me is that all my OP life I have been taught to see that as God being rigid on things. I know that God never changes. But yet the Bible talks about God doing a new work. He never changes He is always doing new works. This is a manifestation of God doing a new thing. God has been doing a 'New Thang' forever. It amazes me how preconceived notions about how God is 'suppose to do things' vanish when you see things like this. A real move of God brought on by a man that looks like he belongs in a bar or something. I love it! It is certainly powerful and people in this movement need to see this kinda stuff to bust up all the preconceived ideas they have about God.

What doctrine is he presenting to the congregants? I understand that this is not important to some.

We can't let God move unless we put our stamp of approval on it. Somebody send God an IM quick, bet he doesn't know who He is pouring His Spirit out on.
