No kidding, I find myself in converations on the phone and I will make a reference to some thread and explain that I was in a conversation about thus and so, and they will ask, "who were you talking to, I thought you didn't work during the summer?"
Then I have to explain that I have been engaging in Cyber-Friendships... LOL

Re: "Who are these People?"

I had to go through the three-degree with my son when I was going to meet some posters for dinner. He couldn't understand how I could be so excited about hanging out with people I'd never met and "mom, they could be serial killers" - - lol!

Re: "Who are these People?"

I was going to meet Timmy TODAY in NYC. My wife said, "I am not going to spend several hours of our vacation talking to one of your online friends about religion". It made me feel like CC1. lol.

Yeah really. I'll be telling someone about something on here, and I just say something like, "A friend of mine who lives in Texas said so and so" or "I just got a message from a friend who lives in California". I just can't bring myself to tell them that the friend is imaginary!!

Re: "Who are these People?"

It truly isn't much different than my work relationships. I have never met my last three bosses in person and have only met a few of my co-workers. Many people I've known for years I have only corresponded via e-mail, instant messaging and conference calls, it just seems natural to have the same kind of relationships in my personal life.

Re: "Who are these People?"

Noone in my family says anything but they do give me funny looks. But because I know a few people here, it's not a big thing. I am even related to one. Most of you are very real to my heart.

True. I work in an office with over a thousand people. there are people I have worked with on projects thru the years, that work in this building that I have never actually met face to face.

plus I work with people all over the country that I am sure I will never meet. conference calls and email are my life.

Light...I met last Christmas, though my dad has known him for years.
ReformedDave...I saw one time in church, he was playing something with keys, I am musically illiterate.
I know a few lurkers who rarely post. There are a couple more but they would probably deny knowing me.
