Is the blue sash really necessary?

Re: With out holiness no man shall see GOD

Not saying it don't have something to do with it. I'm saying its not what alot of churches have been taught it is.

What I'm saying is that during my time(37 years) in the UPC. When you said Holiness. You was talking about the way we dress.

Re: With out holiness no man shall see GOD

before this thread takes off, I would like to piont out the font end of the scriputre in question says

"follow PEACE with all men, and Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord"

we would do well to remember that in this discussion...

back to the brawl.

Re: With out holiness no man shall see GOD

I wonder if those that thrive on this or that are following peace?

Re: With out holiness no man shall see GOD

I believe in holiness but I am not in the arena trying to kill those that don´t. I am working with those that are under my care and ever working on the heart and spirit of Mrs. Janice. She takes so much of my time...

Re: With out holiness no man shall see GOD

The spirit of holiness comes from having the Spirit of a Holy God living inside us.
As He resides on the inside, it will eventually reflect on the outside WHO is living
inside. There will be His glory shining through and the fruit of the Spirit will be made
manifest in and through that person. The spirit of holiness is not what we do, but
what we allow Him to do in and through our bodies, the temple of the Living God.
Our temple will reflect HIS GLORY! That is when He comes to be glorified in His saints!
2Thess.1:10.

God was glorified in His Son and He wanted to bring many sons/daughters to glory, so
He sent Jesus (The Word) to show and tell us how. When He came, he not only showed
us how but gave instructions on what to do after He went back to (being)the
Father.
The Father poured down His Spirit from on high, on all who would believe, obey and receive
it. He continues to do so today.

Don't expect to be holy until you are Wholly HIS! Body, soul and spirit! Let's present
our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto Him, which is our reasonable
service. And be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing our
our minds, that we may PROVE what is that good, and acceptable and perfect, will of
GOD.

Incidentally there is something missing. "Follow peace with all men and
holiness without....".

Blessings,

Falla39

Well put!

"The spirit of holiness is not what we do, but what we allow Him to do in and through our bodies, the temple of the Living God"
In this a reference to the works of the flesh yes but faith is always a response to God's Word and Spirit. Thus obediance is always holiness and without holiness( which is the result and nature of obediance) no man can see the Lord.

It's not just something that is imputed to us but a response to him. Many OSAS teach nothing you do is righteousness or holy before God and that is a lie. Your faith(which is a proper repsonse to God's Word) is always considered holiness as it reflects him.
And the fruit of the Spirit will only be made manifest if that tree truly
has the sap (Spirit) flowing through it!

(Psalms 104:16),
"The trees of the LORD are full of sap; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted".

(Isaiah 61:3),
"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil
of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be
called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified".

What is Jesus building His Church with! "Trees of righeousness, the planting
of the LORD, that HE might be glorified".

Glory to His Name, Glory to His Name,
There at the Cross was the Blood applied,
Glory to His Name.

Blessings,

Falla39

Re: With out holiness no man shall see GOD

in a kind of related subject I was reading this passage this weekend.

in my heart, it seemed as though the Lord spoke to me.

I like that first part, the last two is a bit more difficult...

Philippians 3
10That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
