This causes some to waver in faith, and causes them to live under a cloud of guilt. I do believe God heals, have seen people healed instantly... but have also seen many who were prayed for many times, and were never healed. Why is this...I don't know. Thankfully, we live in an age when medicines and treatments are available for those with physical problems.

Healing is a work of God. He manifests healing when He chooses to... We can't force Him to do so and, as hard as it may be, we shouldn't question when He doesn't.We should rejioce in the fact that He has granted us all the greatest of miracles... the Miracle of Salvation!

Mental illness is something you have to be very careful about. You cannot tell a mentally ill person they are healed and can stop taking their medication. If they stop taking the medication and harm themselves or someone else, then the church can be held liable in a lawsuit.

God heals people taking their medications until a Dr has had time to test and see if they are indeed healed and can come off the medication. Then you have a documented miracle.

Blessings, Rhoni

Norvel Hayes should stick to teaching, and leave medical diagnosis to the professionals. What he is saying may be true in a few instances, but not in EVERY case, as he suggests.
whooo....back up rewind. He did not every say EVERY case. He said, every case HE HAD DEALT WITH. So the question becomes HOW MANY? He is in a postion to receive hundereds of prayer requests, but I cannot imagine him getting personally involved in more than a handful of cases.

Re: Your Opinion On Mental Illness.Spiritual?Chemi

My feeling is that it has more to do with a chemical imbalance in the brain. I was diagnosed as bi-polar and was on medication for about a year and a half. My problem corrected itself, with the help of the medication. Apparently, in some people, the medication has the effect of training the brain to regulate these chemicals on its own. I am guessing this is what happened to me because I haven't had any issues in a few years now. My 20s and part of my 30s were a mess because of this whole thing. I wish I had gotten treatment sooner.

Most mental illnesses are chemical and can be treated with therapeutic medications. These may be required short term, to help the body in restoring its own balance, or long term, to replace what the body has stopped making or supress what it is making too much of.

That's not to say I don't believe demonic possession is real. I believe that it is. I just don't believe every mentally ill person is possessed.

I don't think that all mental cases have a spirit, but I do believe that mental issues can cause people to have spiritual issues.
