Re: All this Emotion

A friend changed churches a while back. Said she needed to be "closer to God". After a few weeks, I asked her how she liked her new church. She said oh, it was awesome! There was such a move of the Spirit at the last service, that the pastor never even got to preach!

I'm pretty sure I managed to not roll my eyes.

Why would you roll your eyes?

Oh, did I forget where I was posting?

Well, I, for one, don't think a church service where there is nothing but music, hollering, running, jumping, dancing, falling, tongues all over the place, etc., and no preaching is "awesome".

(Of course, I didn't give those details in my post, and actually, my friend didn't either. I was hearing between the lines. The church she goes to is into that kind of thing.)

Oh yeah, I forgot too. We are in the Deep Waters section.

I try to avoid this section.

It might be one of those things that you just have to be there.

PTL Sister,

Hopefully the offense of my previous statements don't hinder you from the heart of what's being said here.

Concerning the walls of Jericho, God was not in the shout; He was responding to their obedience. The command to shout was part of God's plan to overtake this city, but did not set the precedence that shouting was always to become the way for conquouering future cities.

Shouting has its place. But, when a service is judged as being "dead" because no one shouted or danced, we have succummed to illiterate doctrine and false teaching. This emotional demand will lead people to the very shallow well of understanding, little discipline, and an inability to weather life's great trials.

I don't have time to go into the great affliction we have been through building this Home Missions work, but let me be frank, I had to learn to serve God outside the box of emotion, loving Him away from the dance and feeling. It is here where I have really grown and have gained the deepest of understanding about the Cross, the Garden, and the Grave.

I teach the Church in my care, learn to love Him no matter what you feel. When you rejoice, don't allow yourself to make decisions while in this state, because haste abides there. Wait till the storm comes. Come down off the mountain. Go to work on Monday. Get back in the saddle. Take up your cross. Then decide.

I've seen too many fall because the "feeling" was gone.

Lord Bless you, NFS

Brother I am in no way offended by your posts. I enjoy reading them as a matter of fact. Just don't agree with all of it. Our opinions differ only in personality maybe. It is what is in the heart that truly matters. And I think it would be boring if we all responded alike.

The body without is Spirit is DEAD! Anytime you have no sign of emotion,
I would be concerned. There is a time for being emotional and there is a
time to sit and listen when the Word of God is being served up in a good
meal of "Bible" study. There is also that time of just being still and knowing
that He is God.

It could be that when you have a congregation that all they do
is run and jump and make a lot of noise and never have time for eating
the good Word of God, could be just a day-care center. Children at play.

When I was in elementary school, there was time for studying and a time
for recess, lunchtime and study hall time, etc. We were disciplined to obey
the rules and to learn to observe the time. Is it recess time or time to have
class or study hall, etc. Eccles. 3:1, tells us that "To every thing there is a
season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (the next several
verses tells us of the times. Then we read that "HE hath made everything
beautiful in HIS time". In time we SHOULD grow up (mature) in Him.

Paul said that when he was a child, he spake as a child, he understood as
a child, he thought as a child: but when he became a man (grew up, matured,)
he put away childish things.
There is some distance between being a child and becoming a man. Coming
to maturity. There is a process in between. Some never grow up.

Just some thoughts, no offense intended.

Blessings,

Falla39
