This is how Melchizedek is taught by one man who happens to be a prominent official in a Oneness Pentecostal organization:
Who did Abraham pay his tithes to?
Was it God or was it man?
In
Genesis 14:18-20, Abraham paid tithes to Melchizedek.
The 7th chapter of
Hebrews tells us that Melchizedek is an “Office”.
Hebrews 7:12 tells us it is two
offices combined; first, “High Priest” (King of Righteousness); and the second,
“King of Salem” (Jerusalem) meaning king of peace.
Remember we must have two or three witnesses for verification.
2nd Cor. 13:1
in our Bible,
Joshua 10:13 and
2nd Samuel 1:18 tell us of a book called “Jasher”
that is not included in our Bible. Jasher 16:11 tells us that it was Shem that
Abraham paid his tithes to.
Remember that our Bible is not a history book, but it tells us of characters
and events that took place in history. The first Man, Adam was the first
Melchizedek. He was king and also Priest. Today we would call this Church
and state combined (two offices together). There were ten Melchizedeks. The
first Melchizedek was Adam
Gen. 5:1-2; the second was Seth
Gen. 5:3 and the
third was Enos;
Gen. 5:6. The book of Jasher tells us throughout the day of
Enos, men began to depart from God and began making images to worship. The
4th Melchizedek was Cainan;
Gen. 5:9 and through him God spoke first of
destroying the world by water (flood).
The 5th Melchizedek was Mahalaleel;
Gen. 5:12 and the 6th was Jared;
Gen. 5:15. In the book of Jude, verse 14 tells
us of the 7th Melchizedek who was Enoch, the 7th from Adam;
Gen. 5:18. Enoch
was translated because he had a testimony that pleased God, he warned the
people that not only the good but the bad would live again;
Hebrews 9:27. The
8th Melchizedek was Noah
Gen. 5:29, 2nd Peter2:5 Methuselah lived and
prophesied in the days of Noah.
The 9th Melchizedek was Shem, Noah’s son.
The office of Melchizedek was handed down from father to his eldest son.
Genesis 11:11 tells us that Shem lived five hundred years after the flood and in
the book of Jasher 16:11it says that the man or “Melchizedek” that Abraham
paid tithes to was Shem
There was not another Melchizedek until Jesus came
Hebrews 7:17. The
tenth and last Melchizedek is Jesus Christ; he is our King and High Priest.
According to
Hebrews 7:3, he is without father, without mother, without
decent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life.
Hebrews 12 tells us
that we have now come unto Mount Zion, the Heavenly Jerusalem. This was
this was prophesied of Him in
Gen. 49:10,
Psalms 10:4,
Isaiah 2:2 and
Hebrews 7:17. From the loins of Abraham, God through the Patriarchs,
separated the priesthood from the Kingship. He took the Priests from the tribe
of Levi and the Kings from the tribe of Judah, again referring to
Hebrews 7:3
Melchizedek (office).
