Doesn't anyone find it interesting that these folks don't have any activity in their brain during speaking in tongues.

I think that is the point of the press release.
It is said that folks do not "try" to speak but simply allow God to speak through them. The absense of frontal lobe activity seems to validate that they are not thinking about what they are saying, at least.

Ok, and I am not being picky but really just wondering.
Is there any scripture that indicates that speaking in tongues is for the purpose of allowing God to say things through us or pray through us?
Also, I understand that God has chosen prayer as a way that he uses us to accomplish his will but does he need to speak certain things through us or is speaking in tongues mostly for the benefit of the person doing the speaking?

Why speak if you don't know what your saying how do you know if he will answer you. If you cannot understand whats being said how does that benifit you thats what I don't understand why talk to god if you cannot understand what you are saying... it does not benifit you or anyone else

I would not say that God is "benefited" and he has "need" of nothing... so given these choices I guess it would be mostly for the benefit of the person doing the speaking.

Re: Medical Study Proves Speaking In Tongues.
I Corinthians 14:2 - 4: "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God; for no man understandeth him; howbeit i the spirit he speaketh mysteries. But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself . . .."

Re: Medical Study Proves Speaking In Tongues.
How does speaking in tongues edify someone if they do not understand what they are saying I understand the scripture but it makes no scense to me like the church unless you have an interpretor so the chuch will be edified and understand. God understands all no matter what language you use english, french, spanish etc.. no heavenly or angelical laguages exsist in the bible..
