After-all, the great commission is spreading the gospel. What excuses are we going to use while in the presence of Jesus?

(Us) Lord, we were too busy.
(God)How did you have time for AFF?

(Us) We weren't feeling well -or- we were stricken with an illness
(God) The 12 apostles faced death everyday, didn't I provide for them?

(Us) The streets are filled with criminals.
(God) Didn't you read about the situations I protected Janice Alvear from in Brazil?

(Us) Lord, my feet hurt.
(God) Jacob limped and performed my will.

(Us) My family were priority
(God) Didn't I require you to love me more than they?

(God)You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.
I have met people like this, people who think ignoring their family for ministry and God is a good idea. Funny how when they look back and never feel that way at the end of thier life. Seems they forgot to take care of the very thing God placed in their hands.

Holy Cow!! I didn't see that last thing in his original post. So making family a priority is a bad thing.......nice.

Yes, and some put to much ephasis on their family they ignore the things of God. Why were you put on Earth?

I wonder if the First Church went door knocking? Did they pass out mini scrolls with church info in it?

Definitely, our lives are the testimony (or not); but there is something to be said for creating opportunities for evangelism by reaching out to the community, and not isolating yourself from the world.

People don't normally care what strangers have to say; but if you befriend them, they might listen.

You want to reach people? Put food on the table of the hungry; give blankets to the homeless; volunteer in the cancer ward; take your neighbors a pie; spend a day repairing the home of an elderly or disabled person; go to a nursing home and read or sing to the patients....that's what I call evangelism.
Don't forget it.

I was able to sit with a baptist today, a complete stranger and talk to him about oneness, Holy Ghost infilling, and Jesus name Baptism. He is going to be calling me, and he also wants me to speak to a pastor from his org about what I told him. He, a pastor and a congregation might be won..... so much for your comment of "People don't normally care what strangers have to say." What a pathetic excuse!

P.S. If Satan is reading this, there are some of us who will not make excuses, and we will not bow.

Simply not possible. Last night my wife and I and our two kids played in the front yard, a little tackle the guy with the ball, and lying in the grass trying to catch my breath. That 16 year old hasn't beaten me yet but he is getting really close. Nothing better it was the high point of the weekend. My son will be leaving for college soon, my influence is fading fast, I can't possible spend enough time on him.

He's a Baptist? You should leave him alone, he's fine. Then again, maybe he's trying to convert you and help you understand God's grace! On second thought, keep talking to him!

And I don't think Satan cares much about it. You're talking to a guy that's saved. Now, if you talk to someone that doesn't know Christ, you he just might show up.

Saved, someone that believes in three distinct co-equal persons create one God? Please......you're probably in the same boat he is. Strange, everytime I log on to AFF you're here. Have you prayed, read your bible, went and witnessed today? Or perhaps this is the only life you have?

Good night.

Good night.

I knew that would get you fired up.

I actually took the day off, but I appreciate the insult.

I don't shy away from talking to strangers, Corinth. And definitely there have been some won that way. It doesn't seem to be the most effective form of evangelism, though. Especially today when people are suspicious of anyone coming to their door.

I was brought up in the home of a pastor who made it a point to reach out to the lowest of low, the drunks, the drug addicts, the poor, the dirty, the homeless, the transients, ex-cons....I was taught how to love sinners by one of the best. He didn't just knock on doors and teach Bible studies (he did do that, btw), but he formed real relationships with people no one else cared about--and other churches often didn't want because they weren't big tithes payers.

Maybe if God has been talking to you about this matter, it's because He needed to, well, talk to YOU about it. If you've feeling convicted about being online because you do it to the point that you neglect other priorities, then do something about it, but don't assume everyone else online acts the same way.

Doesn't that mean you're here at the same time he is?
